Devising a proper study plan and ensuring that it is being adhered to diligently would ensure success at every step while preparing for any entrance exam like VITEEE. Speed and accuracy with complete focus would help in achieving the desired results.
The preparation strategy is a bit different for this exam as compared to JEE or State Entrance Exams as in VITEEE questions are not too much from key concepts. In order to prepare for VITEEE one must go through the concepts of all the topics related to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In all the engineering entrance exams “Speed” and “Accuracy” play a major role in deciding your rank and same is for VITEEE. In VITEEE, questions are not difficult but are time taking hence, to secure a good rank candidate’s question solving speed must be good. When I appeared for this exam, I observed that some of the questions are repeated and some are directly from books as a general objective MCQs.

Class 11
Physics Chapters
- Kinematics
- Laws of Motion
- Units and Measurement
- Work Energy and Power
- Oscillations and Waves
Chemistry Chapters
- Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties
- Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure
- Redox Reaction
- Chemical Thermodynamics
- Organic Chemistry
- Hydrocarbons
- S- Block and P- Block Elements (Exceptional Cases)
Mathematics Chapters
- Sets
- Relations and Functions
- Algebra
- Calculus
Class 12
Physics Chapters and Topics
- Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance
- Current Electricity
- Magnetic Effect of Current and Magnetism
- Electromagnetic Induction and AC
- Semiconductors
- Optics
Chemistry Chapters and Topics
- Solutions
- Electrochemistry
- P,D, and F- Block Elements
- Coordination Compounds
- Halo-Alkanes, -Arenes
- Polymers
- Alcohols, Ketones, Aldehydes, etc.
- Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen
Mathematics Chapters and Topics
- Relations and Functions (Inverse Trigonometric Functions is most important)
- Matrices
- Integration
- Differentiation
- Differential Equations
- Vectors
- Probability
- 3-D Geometry
Revise all the chapters and create a study plan
To clear this exam, an extensive study plan should be created; the student should focus on study materials, question banks and solved papers of last year’s rather than NCERT Textbooks. Revision of each subject and every topic should be done as VITEEE have no weightage for topics. Student should revise the entire syllabus once it is completed. During the last one or two months of preparation, they must solve as many question banks of last years as they can in order to develop speed and accuracy. For the preparation of English and Aptitude question banks and solved papers are enough to give an idea of the type of questions that could be asked.
Last Week Tips and Tricks
Question banks and practise sets would help from two perspectives:
- Understanding and assessing the level of questions comes in VITEEE
- Prioritisation of different sections
No Negative marking is there hence a student must try to attempt maximum questions.
Tips on Time Management
Your last month practice and understanding of concepts would help you in managing time during the exam. During solving previous year question banks candidate should evaluate the difficulty level of each section, this analysis would help in deciding the order in which each section should be attempted. Generally, Mathematics should be prioritised as it might take more time .
Managing Class 12 & Entrance Preparation
Managing boards and entrance exams simultaneously could be a little challenging if you do not follow a proper plan. Hence, before starting your preparation a proper study plan should be devised and the student should follow it strictly as a minor casual attitude might affect the result of any of these two. Candidate should prepare the study plan in such a way that proper time is allotted for board’s preparation and entrance exam preparation. They must focus on the concepts of Class 12 as these concepts of the book will help in solving entrance questions as well. In case you are taking coaching classes or tuition then it should only be for entrance as classroom study and self-study could make you ready for boards and will also save your time.

In VITEEE, VIT mainly focuses on class 12th syllabus than 11th standard syllabus. To score 300 to 400 marks in VIT exam, we advise to -
- Cover 12th syllabus first
- Solve PYQs and mock test

So basically, the syllabus for SRM, VITEEE, GITAM, and most IIIT entrance exams is not something completely different. All of them are mostly based on your Class 11 and 12 NCERT. If you're preparing for JEE Main, you're already covering a big part of it.
Let me break it down in a simple way.
