SSC CHSL Recruitment 2025: The Commission conducted the SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam from November 12 to 30. The Tier 2 exam dates have not been announced yet. It is expected that it will be conducted from February -March 2026. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 result is likely to be soon released on the official portal at ssc.gov.in. The authority announced 3131 vacancies. The SSC CHSL recruitment 2025 begun with the release of the notification. The application dates were June 23 to July 18. 

SSC CHSL recruitment is a two-stage process comprising Tier 1 and Tier 2. The recruitment process is being conducted to shortlist eligible candidates for various posts in the ministries/departments/offices of the Government of India. The SSC CHSL recruitment is carried out for the following posts - Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO).

The SSC CHSL recruitment was started with the release of the notification. SSC CHSL Recruitment Stages 2025

The Commission conducts the SSC CHSL exam once in a year at the national level. It is conducted to select the Higher Secondary qualified candidates for several departments and offices of the Indian government. The SSC CHSL recruitment process consists of several stages as explained below:

SSC CHSL Application Form

Firstly, candidates need to fill the SSC CHSL application form in online mode. SSC CHSL application fee is INR 100. All women and Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates are exempted from the application fee.

SSC CHSL Admit Card

SSC CHSL admit card is released on the website of the commission. Candidates can download their admit cards by logging into their registered accounts.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam

Candidates need to appear for SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam at the test centre mentioned on the admit card. SSC CHSL Tier 1 is an online exam that contains 100 multiple-choice questions of 200 marks.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam

Candidates who qualify the Tier 1 exam need to appear for the SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam. The Tieris a descriptive test of 60 minutes duration conducted in offline mode. Candidates have to write an essay of 200-250 words and a letter/application of 150-200 words. The paper holds 100 marks weightage.

SSC CHSL Skill Test

SSC CHSL Skill /Typing Test is conducted on a computer as per the post applied by a candidate.

The SSC CHSL result is declared after the completion of each stage and the final result is released after all stages of the recruitment process are over. The shortlisted candidates are then allotted different posts as per their preferences and available vacancies.

Q:   How many vacancies are released for the SSC CHSL exam every year?

The number of SSC CHSL vacancies varies every year. The number of vacancies in the SSC CHSL 2024 exam were 3427 and in SSC CHSL 2021 exam were 6,072, and approximately 4500 vacancies were announced for the SSC CHSL 2022. The SSC CHSL vacancies are the most important component of the exam for two reasons. Firstly, the number of vacancies determines the number of candidates who need to be selected for the Tier-II exam and, consequently, the SSC CHSL cutoff to get these many candidates for the next level.

The Staff Selection Commission conducts the CHSL exam for group D posts. The posts that you might get after clearing CHSL are lower division clerks (LDC), data entry operators (DEO), and sorting assistants (SA). The salary structure after clearing the SSC CHSL exam is as follows: 1. For lower division clerks, the basic pay is Rs. 19,900, and the approximate in-hand salary is Rs. 29,100. 2. For Data Entry Operator (DEO) and PA-level posts, the basic pay is around Rs. 25,500, and the in-hand salary is Rs. 36,555. This salary is for city X, I. e. , cities with a population of more than 50 Lacs. The salary for cities Y and Z, whose populations are less than 50 Lacs, is slightly less.

No, the SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam is not qualifying in nature. In Tier 1, it is compulsory to clear all 4 sections. Based on the performance in Sections 1 and 2 of the Tier 2 exam, candidates are shortlisted for evaluation of Section 3 (Computer Knowledge Test) and Section 4 (Skill Test/ Typing Test). However, the Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/ Typing Test are qualifying in nature. The SSC CHSL final merit list is prepared based on the overall performance of candidates in CHSL Tier 2 exam only.
