The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most important law entrance exam for candidates looking for admission to the NLUs in India. The Consortium of NLUs released the CLAT 2026 Notification on 20-July-2025. As per the notification, the registration process started on 01-Aug-2025. Candidates must note that Application Window is closing on CLAT official website; i.e. consortiumofnlus.ac.in on 31-Oct-2025.
Only those candidates who will submit the Application Form on or before the deadline will be issued CLAT Admit Card 2026. Without Hall Ticket, candidates will not be allowed to appear for test. CLAT 2026 Exam Date is 07-Dec-2025. To complete the CLAT 2026 registration successfully, keep the following scanned documents ready in the prescribed format:
- Recent passport-size photograph (clear, coloured – JPEG format, < 100 KB)
- Scanned signature (JPEG format, < 100 KB)
- Class 10 and 12 mark sheets (for UG applicants)
- LLB degree/mark sheet (for PG applicants)
- Caste/Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), if applicable
- PwD certificate, if applicable
- Domicile certificate (for domicile reservation claims in certain NLUs)
- ID proof: Aadhaar, PAN card, Passport, etc.

CLAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

UG CLAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates appearing for CLAT UG 2026 can check the eligibility below:
- Candidates must ensure to have the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination):
- Forty five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories
- Forty Percent (40%) marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
- Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March/ April, 2026 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT 2026 examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission"

- An LL.B. Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of Fifty percent (50%) marks or its equivalent grade

How to Register for CLAT 2026?
Candidates can follow the simple steps given below to register for CLAT 2026 Exam:
Step 1: Go to the official website; i.e.consortiumofnlus.ac.in,
Step 2: Register as a new user
- Click on “Register”
- Enter your Name, Mobile Number, and Email ID
- Create a secure password
- Verify using OTP sent to your mobile/email
Step 3: Fill the Application Form
- Choose your course (UG/PG)
- Enter your personal details: Name, DOB, gender, etc.
- Enter your academic details: Marks, board/university, year of passing
- Select reservation category (if applicable)
- Choose preferred test cities (up to 3)
Step 4: Upload Required Documents
- Upload scanned photograph, signature, and category certificates
Step 5: Make the Application Fee Payment
- General/OBC/PwD/NRI/PIO/OCI: INR 4,000
- SC/ST/BPL: INR 3,500
(Extra INR 500 if opting for previous year CLAT question papers)
Payment Mode: Online via credit/debit card, UPI, or net banking
Step 6: Final Submission
- Review all details carefully

- Download and save a copy of your filled form and fee receipt for reference

How to Make Corrections in CLAT Application Form 2026?
The Consortium gives a chance to candidates to make changes in the CLAT Application Form. The CLAT Application Correction Window will be opened at least for three days. You don't have to worry. In case you have forgotten your ID and password, which is pretty much normal. You can go and click on the forgot password tab in the registration window. You will receive the mail and then you have to reset your password. Once day you will be able to login.

The last date to submit the application form is October 31, 2025. It must be noted that the consortium will open the application correction window after that. Sometimes the consortium do extend the last date for registration but it is better to fill the form way before and why to wait.
