Who all are Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs)?
Those Indian medical students who completes their primary medical education from foreign countries are called Foreign Medical Graduates. They have to qualify Foreign Medical Graduate Examination in order to get license and practice in India. In addition, FMGs can also appear for NEET PG exam to practice in India.
NEET PG 2026 Eligibility for Foreign Medical Graduates
Students have to fulfill eligibility criteria as provided in official brochure. NBE will upload brochure on its official website, nbe.edu.in. Check eligibility criteria for FMGs given below:
Nationality: Those FMGs who want to appear for NEET PG exam should be Indian or Overseas citizen of India
Primary Medical Education: Students must have completed primary education from foreign medical colleges or universities, which are recognized by medical council/authority of that particular country.
Internship: Internship must have been completed before deadline as provided by NBE in brochure
FMGE Qualified: They must have qualified FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Exam) conducted by NBE. The exam is held twice a year. Students should have pass certificate before deadline.
Registration certificate: Eligible students should have registration certificate of medical council or any state council of India
NEET PG eligibility 2025 for Foreign Nationals
Students must note these foreign national are those who don’t have cleared FMGE exam in India. Check NEET PG eligibility criteria for Foreign Nationals given below:
MBBS or Equivalent Degree: Such students should have a valid MBBS or equivalent degree from recognized college/university of particular country
Registered with medical authority: To appear for NEET PG exam, students should have registered with respective medical authority of their country.
Security go-ahead: Foreign Nationals seeking medical admission into PG course must have got clearance from Ministry of Home, Government of India.
NEET PG 2026 Exam Dates and Details
NEET PG 2026 exam date has already been announced. The exam will be held on August 30, 2026. NBE will release application form online. Students will have to register first to submit application form for NEET PG 2026. As per existing pattern, NBE will conduct exam in computer-based mode. A total of 200 questions will be asked and students will be provided 3.5 hours to answer them.
