The National Testing Agency will conduct the NEET(UG) exam on May 3, 2026 in a single shift from 2.00 PM to 5.00 PM. The exam will be conducted online as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). There will be three subjects in the paper. These subjects will be Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The Agency released the NEET Syllabus and exam pattern in the official information bulletin.

The Government Colleges are the first choice of the candidates to do the MBBS and other courses. This is because of two reasons. The government colleges has less fee and higher exposure to patients. NEET 2026 Rank Explained

The candidates should note that almost all the State Government Medical Colleges run by the State Government share only 15 per cent of their seats under the All India Quota and rest 85 per cent is reserved for their state quota means those seats will be available to the candidates belonging to their states only. On the other hand, the AIIMS and other Central Government-run Medical Colleges are open to all.

The ranks and the college availability depend on various factors such as

  • AIQ Rank
  • State Domicile
  • Branch Opted by the candidate
  • Availability of seats in the category of the candidate

In addition to the above, one more factor works in the seat availability. The number of candidates belonging to other categories but who scored better marks and can claim the seat under the Open/open category will impact the seat availability to the rest of the General Category candidates.
