CBSE is preparing to conduct surprise inspections of all its affiliated schools in Bihar, forming different teams to carry out the task.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken serious note of the rising issue of dummy schools in Bihar, where multiple branches are reportedly operating under a single registration number without proper infrastructure or regular attendance of students and teachers. This has prompted CBSE to take strict measures to address the problem, including initiating surprise inspections of schools affiliated with the board in the state.
Surprise Inspections Planned Across Bihar
CBSE is preparing to conduct surprise inspections of all its affiliated schools in Bihar, forming different teams to carry out the task. Each team will comprise one or two CBSE officials and the principal of another CBSE-recognized school. Notices regarding this inspection have been sent to all regional offices, emphasizing the need for thorough investigations. The board aims to uncover any irregularities, particularly in terms of student enrollment numbers, teacher qualifications, and infrastructure.
Cancellation of Affiliation for Schools Found Non-Compliant
CBSE has issued a stern warning that any school found to be running as a dummy school or showing irregularities will face the cancellation of its affiliation. These dummy schools, which have been the subject of numerous complaints, are accused of admitting students without requiring mandatory attendance. Investigations have previously revealed a significant disparity of over 50% between enrolled students and those physically present. The board has emphasized that such practices not only compromise educational quality but also jeopardize student safety.
Action Follows Surge in Complaints
The decision to crack down on these schools follows a surge in complaints from various parts of Bihar. The board has previously investigated and cancelled the affiliation of schools found to be operating as dummy schools. Fake attendance records and misinformation about infrastructure have been common issues identified during these investigations.
CBSEโs move is aimed at ensuring the quality of education and safety for students in Bihar, as it seeks to eliminate schools that are failing to meet the necessary standards.
