With the ongoing NIFT 2025 Counseling Process, a poll was conducted by Shiksha among 1900+ respondents. The poll shows that most students prefer Fashion Design.
Shiksha Poll: Which specialization in design are you interested in for the NIFT B.Des?
In a recent poll conducted by Shiksha asking students about their preferred specialization for the NIFT B.Des programme, Fashion Design emerged as the top choice, with a significant 72% of aspirants expressing interest in pursuing it. The field continues to attract the majority of applicants, given its visibility, creative scope, and vast industry opportunities.
Accessory Design secured the second spot with 15%, followed by Textile Design at 8%. Both Leather Design and Knitwear Design received 3% each, indicating niche interest among a smaller group of aspirants.
Interestingly, many students also revealed a growing interest in Fashion Communication, a specialization that combines design, media, and marketing, showcasing a shift toward roles that blend creativity with strategy in the fashion ecosystem. These preferences reflect both the aspirantsโ creative ambitions and evolving awareness of diverse career paths in the design industry.

Considering you belong to the SC category, this means you will be considered for open and SC admission lists. If you meet the cut-off in any of these lists, you will get admission.
But the institute you are being allocated will depend on the course you have selected (and their order of priority) at the time of choice-filling. Note that if you are not offered the first preferred seat, you are typically considered for upgradation in subsequent rounds.
