- If candidates withdraw their admission before the fee payment deadline then their semester fee will be refunded after the deduction of seat acceptence fee and processing fee (INR 5000).
- If candidates cancel their admisson after the last date of fee payment, only Security Deposits like Institute, Library, and Hostel Caution Money refund. The semester fee will not be refunded.

IIT Bombay Admission & Application Process 2026
IIT Bombay grants admission to its programmes based on national-level entrance test ranks followed by centralised counselling or direct departmental evaluations. Candidates must meet the eligibility rules specific to their chosen course.
Selection Criteria
- BTech / BS / Dual Degree: Selection is based on rank in JEE Advanced, followed by JoSAA / CSAB centralised counselling.
- BDes: Admission is given via ranks in the UCEED exam.

The total tuition fee for IIT Bombay MDes is INR 2.7 Lacs as per an unofficial source. Students belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD category or a child of institution staff are exempted from paying the tuition fee. There is a concessional and a non-concessional fee for candidates belonging to General/ EWS/ OBC-NCL category. The concessional is offered on tuition fee. Candidates apart from the tuition fee are required to pay examination fee, medical fee, etc. Students not staying in hostel are exempted from the payment of hostel fee.
Apart from the course fee, candidates also have to pay a registration fee of INR 300 for General/ OBC Male and INR 150 for SC/ ST/ PwD and female candidates.

Students holding Bachelor's degree with 60 percent marks (55 percent for reserved category) are eligible to apply. Eligible students should visit the IIT Bombay website to fill the application form. The selection is through GATE or MAAT exam followed by an interview round.
Admission in IIT Bombay is considered competitive. To get admission in UG engineering courses, students must first give JEE Main exam. Then if the aspirant passes the cutoff, they can appear for the JEE Advanced Exam. The entry to IITs is decided solely on the basis of JEE Advanced rank. GATE results will be accepted by IIT Bombay for admission to the M.Tech programme. Candidates must secure at least 60% of the total marks (55% of the total marks for SC/ST/PwD category) in any of the following degrees: BE, B.Tech, B.Sc., Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning, M.Sc., MCA, MBBS, M.Pharm, B.Pharma, BDS or a recognised qualification equivalent to BE or B.Tech.
The total tuition fee is inlcusive of admssion fee, examination fee, caution deposit, and charges for many other facilities provided by the institute during the programme. The total tuition fee for the PhD programme at SJMSOM is INR 1.5 lakh. Note that the mentioned fee is as per unofficial sources, hence, is subject to revision.
