The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced the launch of its e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-Mobility program aimed at equipping professionals with the skills and expertise. This 18-month, industry-focused curriculum is set to begin in March 2025, offering a perfect blend of academic rigour and practical insights. The program is designed and delivered by IIT Bombay's faculty, in collaboration with Great Learning as the EdTech partner.
To cap off the program, the on-campus graduation ceremony will be held, where participants will not only receive their diplomas but also be conferred the coveted IIT Bombay alumni status, joining a distinguished global network of achievers. At the launch ceremony, Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, stated, "The e-Postgraduate Diploma in E-mobility by the C1973 EV Power Train Lab marks a key milestone in IIT Bombay's commitment to advanced education. Our industry collaborations help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, accelerating our mission to advance experiential learning in innovation-driven fields".
Who are eligible for IIT Bombay Online PG Diploma in E-Mobility?
To be eligible for the IIT Bombay e-postgraduate program, candidates must possess a B.E. / B.Tech degree or a 4-year B.Sc / BS degree in a relevant field of engineering or technology. Individuals with advanced qualifications such as an M.Tech, M.Sc, MS, or a doctorate in a related domain are also encouraged to apply. This curriculum underscores IIT Bombay’s dedication to advancing Electric Vehicle education in India, equipping professionals with the expertise to navigate and address the challenges of a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.

Participants will engage in hands-on projects such as vehicle sub-system modelling, embedded controller development for electric motors, simulation of power electronic systems, battery modelling techniques and degradation phenomena, as well as modelling and control of EV chargers. Additionally, they will conduct impact assessments of electric vehicles on grid infrastructure. These projects will be supported by IIT Bombay’s extensive academic resources, ensuring a seamless and immersive learning experience.
Yes, IIT Bombay offers MSc for two-years. The PG-level course is available in seven specialisations, including Chemistry, Biotechnology, Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Statistics & Informatics. Moreover, the institute also offers MSc + PhD (dual degree) course in three specialisations including Environmental Science & Engineering, Operations Research, Energy Science & Engineering.
