Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam 2026 ( SSC CHSL )
SSC CHSL Vacancy 2025: The Commission announced the post and category-wise vacancies on the official portal at ssc.gov.in. A total of 3,131 vacancies under the SSC (10+2) CHSL 2025 were released. The SSC CHSL exam is conducted annually at the national level to recruit the Higher Secondary qualified candidates for several departments and offices of the Indian government. The selection process consists of Tier 1 and Tier 2 exam which is conducted as a computer-based test mode. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam was conducted from November 12 to 30.
As per the official SSC CHSL notification, these CHSL vacancies are tentative as of now. It may be noted here that the state-wise or zone-wise vacancies are not announced in the SSC CHSL exam. The revised or final SSC CHSL vacancies will be notified after the conduct of the Tier 2 exam.

SSC CHSL vacancies 2021-22 released were 6,072 which is around 1.5 times of previous notification. The Commission released the post-wise vacancies separately under the candidate's corner. SSC CHSL 2021 exam (Tier-1) was conducted across the nation from May 24 to June 10, 2023 and for Tier-2 was conducted on September 18, 2023. The commission released the number of vacancies with the SSC CHSL result 2023. SSC CHSL final answer key was released on August 11. The Commission released the SSC CHSL scorecard on August 11, 2023.

SSC CHSL Vacancies 2020
SSC CHSL vacancies were released in tentative numbers and they will be revised later (before the result). In the previous notification, the number of tentative vacancies were 4,726. Out of this, 1,538 vacancies have been released for Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), 3,181 vacancies were released for Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA) and seven vacancies have been released for Data Entry Operator (DEO).

No, the number of SSC CHSL vacancies varies for the reserved category (General) and reserved categories- Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tries (ST)/ Other Backward Classes (OBC)/ Physically Handicapped (PH)/ Economical Weaker Section (EWS). The vacancies for the reserved category are fixed as per the norms and rules.
The final SSC CHSL vacancy list is released by the Commission in accordance with the vacancies reported by the Indenting Departments/ Organizations. The final vacancy list is prepared post-wise and category-wise. The Commission does not play any role in fixing the number of vacancies or implementation of reservation policy or earmarking vacancies for different categories.
The number of SSC CHSL vacancies varies every year. The number of vacancies in the SSC CHSL 2024 exam were 3427 and in SSC CHSL 2021 exam were 6,072, and approximately 4500 vacancies were announced for the SSC CHSL 2022. The SSC CHSL vacancies are the most important component of the exam for two reasons. Firstly, the number of vacancies determines the number of candidates who need to be selected for the Tier-II exam and, consequently, the SSC CHSL cutoff to get these many candidates for the next level.
The SSC CHSL selection process comprises two tiers- Tier 1 and Tier 2. Candidates need to clear both the tiers to get shortlisted for appointment. Have a look at the details below:

The exam conducting body, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) releases CHSL vacancies based on the request made by government bodies and departments. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Exam (CHSL) Tier 1 was conducted from November 12 to 30, 2025, across the nation. The Commission will release its result in January 2026.
The SSC CHSL exam process has these stages-
- Tier I- Objective-type computer-based examination (CBE)
Tier II- Objective-type computer-based examination and skill test
Candidates are required to score equal to or more than the SSC CHSL cutoff marks to get selected for the next tier.
The SSC CHSL exam eligibility that candidates need to fulfil is shared below-
- Candidate must be either a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/ Bhutan, Tibetan refugee, a person of Indian origin.
- The age limit is 18 to 27 years.
- Candidates should be Class 12 pass.
According to the SSC CHSL official notification, applicants must be between the age group of 18 to 27 years to be eligible to apply for the SSC CHSL exam, as per the cutoff date prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The upper age limit for the general category is 27 years, Whereas reserved category candidates are given age relaxation in the upper age limit. The SC/ ST category candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC category candidates et 3 years and PwD category get 10 years relaxation.
Staff Selection Commission, the exam conducting body, releases the answer key for the SSC Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (CHSL) Examination. The commission conducts the SSC CHSL exam in two phases- Tier 1 and Tier 2. The SSC CHSL answer key is released soon after the conduct of the exam. Initially, the Commission releases the SSC CHSL tentative answer key. The SSC CHSL final answer key is released after the declaration of results.
