The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.

IIT Bombay Highlights 2025
Established in 1958, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is also known as IIT Bombay or IIT Mumbai. IIT Bombay has been declared a 'Deemed University' and is autonomous. IITB is the first public college to have laid its foundation stone with assistance from UNESCO. The institute has also been declared an Institute of National Importance by the Parliament of India in 1961. IIT Bombay has been conferred the status of Institute of Eminence by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development in July 2018.
IIT Bombay offers degree and dual degree courses at UG, PG and PhD levels across Engineering, Science, and Management streams. The flagship courses at IITB include BTech, MTech, and MBA. IIT Bombay has recently launched 2 professional certificate programmes, namely, Professional Certificate in Software Development and Professional Certificate in Cybersecurity. Further, the institute also offers interdisciplinary programmes and short-term and distance learning courses.
The institute has 17 academic departments, 30+ centers, and 3 schools to offer more than 80 courses. IIT Bombay offers over 80+ courses at UG, PG, and PhD levels in the streams of Engineering, Technology, Science, and Management. IIT Bombay offers BTech course in different specialisations and as an integrated programme. Its fee structure is cumulative of various components, such as tuition fees, caution money, and more. Students who get a seat allocated in the counselling have to pay the required fee amount. IIT Bombay BTech tuition fees range from INR 8 Lacs to INR 10 lakh. This range is inclusive of tuition fees for the integrated programme.
It must be noted that the given fee details are as per the official website/ sanctioning body. It is still subject to revision and hence, is indicative.
IIT Bombay CAT cutoff 2024 has been released for admisison to its MBA course. The CAT cutoff 2024 for the students belonging to the General AI category is 90 for MBA programme. The IIT Bombay MBA Cutoff percentile has remained constant for the past three years. Therefore, it is less likely for candidate getting 85 percentile to get admission at IIT Bombar, among the General AI category.
IIT Bombay Placements 2025
The highest package offered during IIT Bombay placements 2025 was INR 2.2 Crore per annum More than 50 companies participated in the 2025 placement drive. On Day 1, 258 PPO's were offered at IIT Bombay.
The average package and median package offered during IIT Bombay placements 2024 was INR 23.5 LPA and INR 17.92 LPA, respectively. In addition, the overall placement rate recorded during IIT Bombay placements 2024 was 74.53%. A total of 1,979 participated for placements and 1,475 students accepted offers during IIT Bombay placement 2024. Apart from this, 22 students received offers above INR 1 crore per annum during IIT Bombay placements 2024.
Other than this, the overall placement rate recorded during BTech and Dual Degree (BTech + MTech) placements 2024 was 83.39% and 79.16%, respectively. Moreover, a total of 415 students were placed out of 497 participating students during IIT Bombay MTech placements 2024. The average and median packages offered during IIT Bombay placements 2024 stood at INR 23.5 LPA and INR 17.92 LPA, respectively. The overall placement rate recorded during IIT Bombay placements 2024 was 74.53% with 1,475 students participating in the process out of 1,979 students. A total of 930 students registered, 819 students participated and 683 students were placed durinng BTech placements 2024. The placement percentage went this low because of minimal or no participation in the placement process from over 400 students. IIT Bombay accepts UCEED scores for admisison to the B.Des course. The round 2 cutoff has been released. As per the cutoff list, the round 2 closing rank for B.Des was 14 for the General AII India category candidates. Durign the IIT Bombay UCEED cutoff 2023 the last round cutoff closed at 16, it means candidates scoring 50 in UCEED will not be eligible to get into IIT Bombay for B.Des admission. With a cutoff range of 50 to 80, candidates can choose IIT Hyderabad and IIT Guwahati for admission to the B.Des course.
The dates for JoSAA counselling 2026 choice filling will be announced once the result of JEE Main 2026 is declared. Candidates can fill choices only during the choice filling period. Also, candidates need to lock their choices before the last date.
IIT Bombay offers admission to MSc course based on IIT JAM score followed by CCMN Counselling. The seat allotment is carried out based on document verification, seat intake, and category of the students, during the counselling. Besides, candidates with a valid bachelor’s degree issued by a recognised university are eligible for admission to the PG course.

Yes, IIT Bombay offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to UG students. It is awarded to a maximum of 25% of sanctioned intake. For Dual degree, it is available only up to fourth year.
Merit Criterion: For new entrants of BDes their UCEED Rank, will be the criterion. In subsequent years, the criterion will be their academic performance during the preceding academic year.
Means Criterion: The parental income is the basis for the ‘means' criterion of the scholarship. At present, students with parents annual gross income from all sources for the previous Financial year does not exceed INR 5 Lacs are eligible to apply for Merit cum Means Scholarship.

IIT Bombay admission to MDes programme is entrance-based. Candidates have to follow the below steps to get a seat in the MDes programme:
Step 1: Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements have to pay an application fee to register for MDes course.
Step 2: IIT Bombay selects candidates for MDes programme based on CEED score. After qualifying CEED, the institute releases a category-wise merit list for each stream. Eligible candidates are required to appear for an IDC (written test) and an interview round.
Step 3: After the completion of the selection rounds, IITB releases a final merit list. Selected candidates will then have to appear for the verification of documents in order to complete the admission.

IIT Bombay offers BTech course in different specialisations and as an integrated programme. Its fee structure is cumulative of various components, such as tuition fees, caution money, and more. Students who get a seat allocated in the counselling have to pay the required fee amount. IIT Bombay BTech tuition fees range from INR 8 Lacs to INR 10 lakh. This range is inclusive of tuition fees for the integrated programme.
