Review of NIT Rourkela - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: The average placement is okay, but honestly, the top package really surprises us each time. This time around, it reached 21 LPA, which is not too shabby. Students can start looking for campus placements from their 7th semester, which is pretty nice. You won’t find giants like Google or Microsoft coming to campus, but don't worry! You'll definitely see reputable names like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, and Capgemini. They come around and offer some solid packages.
Infrastructure: Even though the college's overall infrastructure is just okay, the campus-wide Wi-Fi, well-used labs, comfy classrooms, and extensive library really make up for it. You know, having a wide range of textbooks and materials available on campus means students don’t have to spend a ton of money on resources outside. There’s transportation and on-campus housing if you need it. The mess is clean, and the food is pretty decent, though a few more student-favorite items wouldn't hurt.
Faculty: The faculty and staff do a solid job here. First-year classes felt a lot like high school, which made the transition smoother. The yearly tests are not too tricky. The college does a nice job recognizing academic achievements and really goes out of its way to celebrate the top performers.

Good campus life along with good placements.
Placements: Almost all students got placed by the end of the year. The highest package was in the software domain, and in core, Vedanta provided the highest package. Major recruiters are Tata Steel, Vedanta, JSW, Orica, Aditya Birla Group, IMFA, etc. The roles provided are mostly GET and MT.
Infrastructure: All the classrooms are fully digitalized, with all types of laboratories ranging from mechanics to software. All the classrooms have Wi-Fi. There is a central library which covers everything one is in need of. Hostel rooms are good, with bed, table, and chair. The quality of food in the mess is good. There is a dispensary where you can get health treatment.
Faculty: All the faculty members are highly qualified. They are very supportive and helpful throughout the entire B.Tech. Every batch is assigned a faculty advisor who guides us throughout. The course curriculum is beautifully designed, covering the syllabus of the GATE examination.

College is overrated be prefer only if you're in that region. Students are great, peers good minds.
Placements: I am not sure about the current year, but according to previous year data, 95%+ students in the electrical batch are placed. However, the LPA is not as impressive as in the IT sector or semiconductor companies. I would say the average is around 50 students who got 30 LPA and above, 10-11 students got 50 LPA and above, 1 student got 1.2 crores, and 3 students got 98 LPA last year.
Infrastructure: Hostels are great, and food is also available with both veg and non-veg options. There is a separate mess for pure veg and Jain people with only a veg menu. I eat there, and the food quality is great. The infrastructure for electrical engineering is average, not great for inventions or projects, but all that is required for the course is available.
Faculty: Not all faculty members are non-cooperative, and they mostly help their regional students. Other students are ones who have to suffer more. The curriculum is hectic, with 85% attendance required, and exams are easy. There is no relative marking, so you can decide accordingly.
Other: I did all that in the above reviews, but I would like to add something if the attendance criteria were lower, it would be better, and adding some more new-generation courses would be beneficial.

Review of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering at NIT Rourkela.
Placements: About 75% of the students got placed. The highest package was 15LPA. Lowest package was 3. LPA, an average packages was 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Deloitte and Wipro. In the southwest, Tata Consultancy Services, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Industries, and many more. About 60% students got an internship. Most of them got internship at Reliance industries, Aditya Birla and research labs. Top roles offered are research associate bioinformatics, Bioprocess engineer and many more.
Infrastructure: The classroom infrastructure is modern with comfortable seating. Having air ventilation and smart boards. The library has large number of books and extensive number of resources, and also access to online repositories. The college has a central research facility, which supports high-end analytical instruments and interdisciplinary access. Boys' hostels have double occupancy rooms. Each room is equipped with a bed, table, chair, LAN connection, fan, and adequate storage. Hostel provides four times meals a day, including veg and non-veg option. The Medical Center provides free medical care for students. There are regular doctoral visits and 24/7 ambulance facility.
Faculty: Most faculty members hold Ph.D. from prestigious universities like NIT's, IITs and some of them also got Ph.D. from international universities. Teachers are helpful, knowledgeable, and easily appreciable. The teaching is based on theoretical lectures. The curriculum covers biotechnology, medical engineering, molecular Biology, and many more. It does not make student a completely industry-ready one. Semester exams are moderate and almost eighty to ninety percent students pass.

College is good in terms of academics and placements.
Placements: Your skills matter to get a job. Many companies visit, but they mostly prefer to hire from the higher branches. For the lower branch, there are only a few opportunities. It's not 100% always, but almost 80% get placed every year. In my course, VISA, Natwest, and Cisco are the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college and hostel is good. However, the facilities in some hostels, like CVR, are not so good. The food quality of some hostels is below average. Medical facilities are good. There are various kinds of sports facilities, and a new sports complex is also going to be inaugurated.
Faculty: Professors are really helpful and well-qualified. The course curriculum is relevant, which makes students ready for the industry and corporate environment. The attendance system is very strict. The semester exam is a turning point, as it decides your stay in college, but it's not that difficult.
Other: Events and fests are the best part of my campus life.

Bitter truth of NIT Rourkela.
Placements: Before joining NIT Rourkela, like many others, had the impression that its placement scenario was outstanding. It is one of the best among engineering colleges. However, after joining the institute, my perspective has shifted significantly. In reality, the placement scene share feels only marginally better than that of many private colleges. Contrary to expectations, a limited number of top-tier NIT-level companies actually visit the campus. Even among those that do, they must tend to focus solely on students from core branches like CS or other circuital branches. Leaving many other with far fewer opportunities.
Infrastructure: Here, the infrastructure is really poor and disgusting. Lab run in an old building and equipment. Libraries are small in comparison to the crowd. There has been no upgradation of labs over the last 20 years. Professors buy equipment from their own money if it is really required. Hostels are even more disgusting because of mess, small rooms and maintained building. Mess provides very hygienic food. Students should not be shocked when they see a spider or flies in their food.
Faculty: Faculty members are just to complete the course. It does not matter whether we get concepts or not. If I take my example, then in my one course, teachers do not come to teach, and they send assistant teachers, and they just do question and answer sessions in the lab. This happens in all branches. There are two-semester exams in one year, autumn and spring. Autumn is for 19 credits and 3 months with some vacation, and spring is for 21 credits and 4 months with no vacation.
Other: I chose this college because I am totally a fool and it depends upon the image of the college relatively. But the best thing is that we get much less time to waste. The course structures should be improved, and old courses must be removed. Events are average. Only 4 fests are organised, i.e., Inovvision, NITRUtsav, and Vridhi (spirits fest).
