NIT Rourkela Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Application

After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. Those below this, between the 95th and 98th percentile, should focus on attempting more mock tests and previous year question papers so that they have a better chance of clearing JEE Advanced

NIT Manipur JEE Main cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the BTech courses. During the Round 1 cutoff, the closing rank for CSE was 25886 for the General category students under the AII India Quota. Among OBC candidates, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering stood at 8750. For the General AI category, the NIT Rourkela JEE Main cutoff 2025 varied from 369 to 85536. The institute accepts the JEE Main entrance examination results, followed by the JoSAA counselling process. NIT Rourkela offers courses in UG, PG and part-level. The Institute offers admission based on valid scores of accepted entrance exams such as JEE Main/ GATE/ IIT JAM or other equivalent. Candidates are required to qualify for the JoSAA counselling and seek final admission based on the qualification of all the selection rounds. 

The selection criteria for B.Tech at NIT Rourkela is entrance based with the institute accepting JEE MAIN scores for the same. The minimum eligibility is passing Class 12 in PCM/PCMB stream with atleast 50% aggregate.

The cutoff trend for the BTech at NIT Rourkela - National Institute of Technology is seen to be decreasing in recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for BTech under the General category for all India quota was 48630. In 2022, it decreased to 41669. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 59378 to 52928 for OBC, 147690 to 140794 for SC, 208976 to 143477 for ST, 55149 to 54081 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for Engineering education in India continues to grow. A similar cut-off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For the General category under All India, opening rank was 19155 and closing rank was 39174. Cut off are differant when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 26823 and 74273. Admission to Integrated B.Sc. + M.Sc. in Physics in NIT Rourkela - National Institute of Technology is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE. 1. Visit the official website, nitrkl.ac.in/ or on the respective entrance exam portal, such as NTA (nta.ac.in) for JEE.
2. Fill out the application form.
3. Upload the documents.
4. Pay the application fee.
5. Submit and print the application form.

The total tuition fee of NIT Rourkela BSc programme is INR 75,000 which is to be paid over 10 semesters. Each semester a student has to pay INR 7,500 as tuition fee. However, this is not the only fee one has to pay throughout a semester. Extra costs like medical fees, student activity fee, hall establishment fee, etc. are also added in each semester.

Thus the total fees to be paid by a student is close to INR 5.93 lakh, if one adds all the costs in each semester, the average cost each semester for five years is INR 56,500 in which the first and last semester have admission fee and graduation fee, respectively.

NIT Rourkela cutoff were released through Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) for Undergraduate courses. NIT Roukela DASA UG cutoff is decided based on various factors, such as the total number of available seats, the marks obtained by the candidates, the number of candidates who appeared in the exam, etc. Given below are the list of some related factors involve to determine the DASA UG cutoff:

The students of NIT Rourkela can apply for scholarships offered by the National or State Government. PhD scholarship/ fellowship is also offered to students by the institute. Below mentioned are the details of some of the NIT Rourkela Scholarships:

1. Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS): SC/ ST students are eligible for Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) of the respective State Governments if they satisfy the norms set by the State Government.
2. Top Class Scholarship: Among the admitted students in the first year top 12 SC students and top 5 ST students are eligible for the scholarship by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GOI provided their parental annual income is below INR 4.5 lakh.
3. GATE Scholarship: Students who have taken admission through GATE are eligible for a scholarship of INR 8,000 per month.
4. PhD scholarship: A PhD student with MTech/ MPharm degree and within the age limit is eligible for an Institute research fellowship for four years. The students will get INR 31,000 per month for the first two years and INR 35,000 per month for the next two years on satisfactory performance.

The NTA has released the exam dates for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2. Paper 1 (BE/ BTech) will be administered between April 2, 2026 to April 9, 2026. The Session 2 registration will open in the last week of January. The applicants are requested to fill the application form available on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in.
