IIT Guwahati offers admission to the Dual Degree (MTech+PhD) programme basis the entrance exam scores. Candidates seeking admission to the Dual Degree programme must have the following eligibility:

Q:   How long is the GATE score valid for admission in M.Tech?
A:

The GATE scorecard is valid for three years for MTech admission. If a candidate has more than one valid GATE score, then he/she must use the one with better GATE score. One can download their result scorecard using enrollment ID and password.

Q:   How many rounds of seat allotments are there in CCMT?
A:
There are a total of three main rounds of seat allotment in the CCMT. The authority will also conduct two special rounds of CCMT counselling. CCMT is Centralized Counseling for M.Tech/MArch/Plan/MDes. It is a common platform for candidates to apply for M.Tech/MArch/Plan programmes in all National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, eight IIITs, the University of Hyderabad, and many more colleges. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) offers courses at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctorate Ph.D level to aspirants. Programmes on offer at IISc Bangalore are in streams such as Science, Design, Engineering and Management. Minimum Eligibility Criteria for UG & PG courses. - UG: Candidates can apply for UG level courses offered at IISc, if they have cleared their Class 12th with at least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grade. Q. What is the basic eligibility for Dual Degree (MTech+PhD) programme at IIT Guwahati?

A. BTech from an IIT with a minimum of 8.0 CPI (GATE score not required) is the basic eligibility for the Dual Degree (MTech+PhD) programme offered at IIT Guwahati. Candidates who have completed BE/BTech in any discipline other than CSE/ IT or equivalent with a minimum of 70% aggregate or 7.5 CPI + GATE score, or have a BTech degree from an IIT with 7.0 CPI but not more than 8.0 CPI along with a valid GATE score are also eligible for BTech admission at IIT Guwahati.

No, a qualifying exam doesn't ensure admission to a particular institute. For admission to a certain institute, candidates have to score above the qualifying cutoff and appear for the counselling and admission process. The GATE cutoff for IIT varies according to the category of the candidates. It is to be noted that admission to IIT is based on factors including the cutoffs of the institute and branch in which admission is desired. The GATE exam is conducted once a year. The entrance test takes place on multiple dates and shifts for 30 test papers. For 2026, IIT Guwahati is conducting the exam on February 7, 8, 14, and 15.

No, a duplicate GATE 2026 admit card will not be provided at the test center. Candidates must carry their own admit card along with the mentioned documents and items to the GATE exam center. IIT Guwahati will release the GATE admit card on January 2.

Yes, candidates will get a scribble pad in the GATE exam 2026 to do the rough work. Candidates have to write their name and registration number on the scribble pad before using it. However, the rough sheet must be returned after the completion of the exam.

The barcode present in the GATE admit card 2026 carries the candidate's information. It is required for a faster verification process and fraud prevention. So, make sure it does not get tampered. Carry multiple copies in case your GATE 2026 hall ticket is torn or tampered.

Candidates who are appearing for the GATE exam must carry a valid ID proof along with a passport-size photograph, transperant water bottle, and pen (blue or black) along with GATE 2026 hall ticket. We advise to carry atleast two to three copies of admit card to the centre.
