IIT Guwahati offers admission to the Dual Degree (MTech+PhD) programme basis the entrance exam scores. Candidates seeking admission to the Dual Degree programme must have the following eligibility:

Q:   How long is the GATE score valid for admission in M.Tech?
A:

The GATE scorecard is valid for three years for MTech admission. If a candidate has more than one valid GATE score, then he/she must use the one with better GATE score. One can download their result scorecard using enrollment ID and password.

Q:   How many rounds of seat allotments are there in CCMT?
A:
There are a total of three main rounds of seat allotment in the CCMT. The authority will also conduct two special rounds of CCMT counselling. CCMT is Centralized Counseling for M.Tech/MArch/Plan/MDes. It is a common platform for candidates to apply for M.Tech/MArch/Plan programmes in all National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, eight IIITs, the University of Hyderabad, and many more colleges. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) offers courses at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctorate Ph.D level to aspirants. Programmes on offer at IISc Bangalore are in streams such as Science, Design, Engineering and Management. A. BTech from an IIT with a minimum of 8.0 CPI (GATE score not required) is the basic eligibility for the Dual Degree (MTech+PhD) programme offered at IIT Guwahati. Candidates who have completed BE/BTech in any discipline other than CSE/ IT or equivalent with a minimum of 70% aggregate or 7.5 CPI + GATE score, or have a BTech degree from an IIT with 7.0 CPI but not more than 8.0 CPI along with a valid GATE score are also eligible for BTech admission at IIT Guwahati.

Q:   If a student qualifies for GATE 2024, will he or she be able to get admission to IIT Bombay?
A:
No, a qualifying exam doesn't ensure admission to a particular institute. For admission to a certain institute, candidates have to score above the qualifying cutoff and appear for the counselling and admission process. The GATE cutoff for IIT varies according to the category of the candidates. It is to be noted that admission to IIT is based on factors including the cutoffs of the institute and branch in which admission is desired. In GATE, normalisation process generally makes a gap of 4 to 7 marks (approximately) between actual and normalised scores. However, if difficulty level of paper was high then the marks might increase. On other hand, for easier paper, marks may reduce offering fairness across sessions.
