The process of admission in NITs is regulated by Centralised Counseling for MTech or CCMT. The concerned body will prepare the Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering (GATE) cutoff for NITs which will help in the process of admissions.

GATE qualifying cutoff is institute eligibility cutoff, and on other hand, GATE admission cutoff ensures a call for admission at IITs, NITs, IITs, and CFTIs. Check below in detail:
GATE Qualifying Cutoff: It is minimum mark a candidate must score so that he or she is eligible for admission. But this does not mean that a candidate is selected for admission. Actually, it is fixed before announcement of GATE results. It is announced by conducting IIT and available on GOAPS. It includes qualifying marks for each paper.
Admission GATE Cutoffs: It is final opening and closing rank score fixed by participating institutes for selection of candidates. It is to be noted here that meeting admission GATE cutoff does not mean that candidates will be selected for admission. It is fixed after GATE result date. It is declared by individual participating institutes and available on their respective counselling portals (CCMT/ COAP).
The exam-conducting authority (IIT Roorkee) will decide the GATE cutoff 2025. It is conducted across the country jointly by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, and the Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore), on a rotational basis on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB-GATE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India. The GATE cutoff will be released with the official result. Candidates who clear the GATE 2025 cutoff marks will be eligible for the counselling procedure. The GATE Cutoff for each NIT will vary and each NIT will release its GATE cutoff based on the following factors. Candidates will be able to see the cutoff for all NITs on the official website of CCMT (Centralised Counselling for MTech). IISC Bangalore cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the MTech programmes. For the General AII India category candidates, the round 1 closing rank ranged between 350 and 665, among which Mechanical Engineering is the most competitive specialisation. For OBC category, the round 1closing rank is 624 for the same specialisation.
