A. I first made sure that I was perfect with the basics in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and followed NCERT thoroughly. There were people who motivated me to prepare well. But reading and referring NCERT is not enough for JEE Main exam. You will always need higher concepts and good books to perform well in the examination.

Q: Which books did you refer to while preparing for JEE Main 2020 exam?

A. I would suggest the following books:

  • Physics – H C Verma, DC Pandey
  • Mathematics – Vikas Gupta
  • Chemistry – MS Chauhan and Narendra Awasthi

Besides this attend all the classes and take help from teachers for any guidance in JEE Main preparation. Also, follow NCERT class XI and XII books for each subject preparation

Q. What is your future plan?

A. I am preparing to appear in JEE Advanced and will do Engineering from IIT Bombay.

Q. What rank are you expecting for JEE Advanced?

A. I am expecting a rank in the top 10.

Q. What will be your message to future JEE aspirants?

A. Persistence and hard work are the most important. Few points I would like to share:

  • I used to mark difficult questions in every book or material while studying
  • Now, I am revising the same for JEE Advanced in the last few days of the exam
  • I have also made notes that I am revising which becomes easy to revise

If we talk about subject-wise important topics, in Mathematics Calculus is the most important. A lot of parts is covered in the exam from it. You can study topics like Rotational, Mechanism, Electromagnetism, In Chemistry it would be Organic Chemistry. Physical Chemistry is easier to study. The best is Inorganic Chemistry.

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology accepts JEE Main scores for admission in BTech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants with WBJEE or CE-AMPAI scores can also get admission in BTech provided they also meet the eligibility criteria.

With a JEE Main percentile of 90.94 and CRL rank ~1.4 Lacs (female, general category), you have realistic chances in mid-tier NITs (later rounds), state government colleges, and strong private universities in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore for ECE/EEE. Top NITs/IIITs are unlikely, but good regional option

With a JEE Main 2026 rank of 400,510 (≈ 70 percentile), admission to NITs, IIITs, or top GFTIs through JoSAA counseling is not possible.

 Why?

    • Even for lower-demand branches (Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy), closing ranks are usually within 2–2.5 Lacs (General category).

With a JEE Main CRL rank of ~79,364 and an EWS category rank of ~11,884, you have a realistic chance of securing CSE in several mid-tier NITs, newer IIITs, and some GFTIs. Top NITs (Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad) are out of reach, but options like NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, IIIT Kota, III
