JEE Main result 2021 will comprise candidates’ percentile score of physics, chemistry and mathematics and the average percentile score of three subjects. NTA calculates the percentile score of candidates to avoid any possible disparity of marks due to the difference in difficulty level of JEE Main as the exam is conducted in several shifts.
JEE Main 2021 Results: Tie-Breaking Procedure
The JEE Main paper has questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Each subject had Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and numerical based questions of 4 marks each. The MCQs also carry one negative mark for wrong answers marked. In case candidates have an equal JEE Main score, a tie-breaking methodology will be followed to break the deadlock in the order given below:
- NTA score in Mathematics: Candidate who secures more percentile score in Mathematics will be ranked higher
- NTA score in Physics: Candidate who secures more percentile score in Physics will be ranked higher
- NTA score in Chemistry: Candidate who secures more percentile score in Chemistry will be ranked higher
- Date of Birth: The older candidate will be ranked higher
Note: In case the tie still stands unresolved, the same rank is given to the candidates
