Candidates who have been allocated a seat have to pay the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) in addition to the Seat Acceptance Fees to confirm their admission. The fees has to be paid online at JoSAA portal. The partial admission fees is adjusted with college fees.
Candidates who are allotted seats in JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) have to pay the partial admission fees at the end of the last round. It is mandatory to pay the partial admission fee, without which the allotted seat of students gets cancelled. The fees has to be paid online by login to the JoSAA candidate portal.
Candidates can pay the fees using debit/credit card/UPI or internet banking facilities available on JoSAA portal. The fees can also be paid offline through e-challan of State Bank of India downloaded from the JoSAA portal for making physical cash payment.

What is the Partial Admission Fee (PAF)?
The Partial Admission Fees must be paid by candidates who have been provisionally allocated a seat in the in any of the JoSAA rounds, provided the seat has not been cancelled or withdrawn. Candidates who do not pay the fees will lead to rejection of the allocated seat.
Who Has to Pay JoSAA Partial Admission Fees?
After the last round of JoSAA, candidates with a provisionally allocated seat (allocated in any round and not cancelled or withdrawn) in the NIT+ system must remit the Partial Admission Fee. This applies specifically to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs not IITs.
JoSAA 2026 Partial Admission Fee Amount
Partial Admission Fee (PAF): Rs. 20,000 for candidates with the category tag SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD or STPwD, and Rs. 45,000 for all other candidates. The partial admission fee will be adjusted against the Institute admission fee. Partial Admission Fee, once paid, is not refundable.

How to Pay JoSAA Partial Admission Fees
The instructions to pay fees is given here
- Open JoSAA official website
- Click on candidate login portal
- Enter your login credentials
- Select partial admission fees option
- Chose Debit card, UPI, Credit card, or Net Banking or use an E-challan of State Bank of India downloaded from the JoSAA portal for making physical payment.
- Click on submit button
The candidate will get acknowledgement in email once the fees is paid
Steps After Payment
Once PAF is paid, the following steps apply:
1. Upon validation of all documents and eligibility criteria, the allocated seat will be provisionally confirmed, and the candidate will be informed via the online JoSAA portal. A "Provisional Seat Allotment Letter" will be available for download if all documents are found valid.
2. For IITs, after joint seat allocation and acceptance, candidates are required to report to the admitting institute to complete all admission formalities, including payment of institute fees, confirmation of admission, and commencement of the academic session.
3. Candidates allotted seats also have to upload required documents on the JoSAA portal for verification, including Class 10 mark sheet/certificate or Aadhaar card, and Class 12 mark sheet and certificate.
JoSAA Partial Admission Fees Refund Policy
Candidates who wish to cancel their seat can apply for refund of the fees paid. As per the fee refund policy, INR 5,000 will de deducted as a processing fee from the partial fees paid. The remaining amount is adjusted against the fees payable at the institute at the time of admission.
