Knowledge of the important topics of each section and the right study material helps in enhancing the scores in the competitive exam like BITSAT.
Birla Institute of Technology And Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is one of the important exams for engineering aspirants for admission in various BITS campuses. In India, BITS has other campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.
In this article, we will discuss how to score high in BITSAT by following some important topics of all subjects and their study material.
Physics
Physics is always considered as a difficult subject as compared to other subjects from the exam point of view. Thus, the questions are relatively more time-consuming. To score high in this section, the students need to be conceptually clear with decent speed and accuracy in solving questions.

Some of the important topics of Physics which carries some good weightage in the exam every year are Thermodynamics and Heat, Magnetism and Magnetic Effect of Current, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Wave Motion, Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM), Fluids, Work, Power and Energy, Optics, and Gravitation.
Study Materials:
- Objective Physics by D.C. Pandey (Volume 1 and 2)
- Concepts of Physics by H.C. Verma (Volume 1 and 2)
Chemistry
Chemistry could be considered as the easiest section among all three core subjects as there are some direct theoretical questions and conceptual questions in the exam and lesser number questions of calculation as compared to Mathematics and Physics. So this section could be attempted quickly and easily.
Some of the important topics with good weightage of Chemistry are Chemical Bonding, Biomolecules, Carboxylic acids, Atomic structure, Mole Concepts, Electrochemistry, P block and S block Elements, Thermodynamics, Solid State, Chemical and Ionic Equilibrium and General Organic Chemistry.
Study Materials
Inorganic Chemistry by Dr.O.P.Tandon
- Physical Chemistry Book by N. Awasthi
- Organic Chemistry by M.S. Chauhan
Mathematics
Mathematics is one of the scoring sections for students if they maintain good speed and accuracy in solving the questions. In this section, some questions could be substituting the values and eliminating the options.
Some of the important topics of Maths are Circles, Straight Lines, Vectors, Continuity, Differential Equations, Complex Numbers, Binomial Theorem, Theory of Equation, Sets, Relations and Functions, Trigonometry, Probability and Matrices and Determinants.
Study Materials
- Calculus by I.A. Maron
- Objective Mathematics by R.D.Sharma (Volume 1 and 2)
English
English should also be considered as equally important as other subjects. One should not devote more than 15 minutes in this section.
Some of the important topics of this section are Synonyms and Antonyms, Sentence Completion, One Word Substitution, Jumbled Words Rearrangement, Tenses, Conjunctions, Prepositions and Modals.

Logical Reasoning
The students need to focus on the main topics to score high in this section. The important topics are Analogy Test, Figure Matrix and Formation – Analysis, Series (Numerical and Alphabetical), Logical Deduction, Paper Folding, Paper Folding and Cutting and Detection of the Rule.
Study Material
- Logical Reasoning by Disha Experts.
Note: All the important topics mentioned here are based on the previous year’s analysis. So, focus on these, however, do not completely rely on these.
