Student’s Speak: What if my BITSAT score is low or below expectation

BITSAT, one of the most aspired exams for almost all the engineering aspirants, is for seeking admission in the prestigious campuses of BITS.

As per the data, about 2 lakh students appear for the exam every year but only 3000 get selected for admission into the different campuses of BITS. Since the competition is so tough, what could be done if one can’t get admission in these campuses.

Firstly, do not get disappointed by the fact you couldn’t score well or your score is too low. Just accept the result and try to find out different ways in which you can get out of this. If you are thinking about dropping a year then think once again. Dropping a year would be worth, if you target the best campus, i.e. Pilani, and succeed in getting into it. If you have enough confidence that you can get into this college then only opt for dropping of a year. Otherwise, I would not advise you to drop a year.

You can opt for other options as well, such as there are several other good colleges that accept admission based on BITSAT score. The only thing you have to do is to search for the same and have patience. If you get disappointed and sit idle then you will find no way of getting out of this. There are various private institutions in the vicinity of Jaipur and in Rajasthan which accept admissions on the basis of BITSAT exam.

If your score is well enough to clear the cut-off but is below your expectations then you must wait for the counselling sessions. You might get counselling call from the authorities in case of non-filling up of seats. I would advise you to wait for the third round of counselling. In that, you will get a clear image of the seat matrix of different campuses. After the third round of counselling, there will be a special round for filling up all the vacant seats. In that, you can opt for admission and might end up getting a good branch.

You can opt for attempting different exams as well. Various private institutions are nice and are as good as BITS. Although the status of BITS is incomparable but that would be better than getting admission in most of the good govt. institutes. You can appear for the admission and screening process of these institutes and get your desired branch. As the most important thing in engineering field is that, the college matters a lot but it is nothing in front of a skilled and talented candidate. If you have skills, then the companies will hire you even if your college is not good.

These are some tips that you can go through or take guidance from, in order to look for the different ways if your score is low or below expectation.
