Don't just lift the book and start reading, first have a look at the index. Now sort your chapters according to the level of difficulty. Start with the topic that excites you the most. This will create a good environment for you to proceed further. Even when you reach non-interesting chapters, you will have good energy within you which will help you to complete that chapter with interest.
Have a look at the syllabus always and do count the time remaining for you to prepare. Divide your time into the syllabus. The basic key to complete anything is first analysing and understanding what is actually demanded. One should have clear basics of each and every topic because those basic things are the only part that will help you cover other parts of your chapter. It feels depressing when someone does not remember the topic he/she has studied after some time. Usually, this happens because he/she had just memorized the topics and skipped the basics of those topics. So be very clear with the basic concepts, yes there are some things that are needed to be memorized but the basics are never meant to be skipped. Always remember one thing that quality matters, not quantity. JEE does not demand the full course to be covered, it just demands that whatever you have covered should be with 100 percent efficiency.
Topics of 12th and JEE Mains are the same, hence you can cover theory with your 12th-coursebook and start practicing with different types of reference books for JEE.
Tips on time management
- Do have at least seven hours’ of sleep every day. This is the maximum time that a person in this age requires.
- Revise what was taught in school every day. Increase your level every day. Also, never break your link with the previous part. Keep revising that part always.
- Try to avoid oily food, this is the basic reason for sleepiness while studying.
- If you get some free lectures during your school time then spend those hours discussing your friends with your preparation topics. Start cross-questioning with your friends. This will help you and them as well.
- Take small breaks of 10 minutes every time after an hour of study. This will help you relax and memorize the stuff in a better way.
- After revising, seek towards practice.
- Don't spend too much time bathing and other things in the morning.
- Morning time is the best for revision. You can relax for an hour after school or coaching. Then spend your time practicing the stuff and keep the revision part for the morning.
- You can divide the time by keeping equal slots for both 12th and JEE.
- There are three subjects to study every day. Read the theoretical part of your regular coursebook. If you get stuck somewhere then use your reference book to gain a proper understanding. Make your own notes while you are on theory part and do keep a copy of small important things that are always needed to be remembered.
- If something takes much time then you can skip it on a primary basis.
Keep the list of scoring chapters with you and try to cover them. Always maintain leniency with revision.
Below is the list of some high scoring chapters, one must always focus on these topics:
- Dimensional Analysis: Although a very easy chapter, but, knowing correct units and dimensions of physical quantities can easily help you to eliminate the options in the multiple-choice type of questions.
- Gravitation & Electrostatics: These chapters are conceptually similar to each other (in terms of attractive forces concepts).
- Current Electricity & Heat Transfer: Again, these are conceptually similar to each other. So, when you read these chapters watch out for the similarities (which might be deceiving at times).
- Electromagnetic Induction, Waves & Sound
- Geometrical Optics, Thermodynamics
- Kinetic Theory of Gases, Rotational Dynamics

Students who gave the JEE Main session 2 exam and want to take admission at IITs should start preparing for the JEE Advanced exam. Students with a more than 98th percentile should start to study for the JEE Advanced exam.
Those who have secured a percentile between 95th and 98th should focus more on

With a JEE Main percentile of 90.94 and CRL rank ~1.4 Lacs (female, general category), you have realistic chances in mid-tier NITs (later rounds), state government colleges, and strong private universities in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore for ECE/EEE. Top NITs/IIITs are unlikely, but good regional option

With a JEE Main 2026 rank of 400,510 (≈ 70 percentile), admission to NITs, IIITs, or top GFTIs through JoSAA counseling is not possible.
Why?

With a JEE Main CRL rank of ~79,364 and an EWS category rank of ~11,884, you have a realistic chance of securing CSE in several mid-tier NITs, newer IIITs, and some GFTIs. Top NITs (Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad) are out of reach, but options like NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, IIIT Kota, III
