Could not score up to your expectations in JEE Mains exam? These are the four questions that will help you conclude what you need to do next.
Whether to drop a year or not?
JEE Mains is one of the biggest challenges for engineering aspirants. Taking a year drop or not always remains one of the most baffling questions. The answer to this question varies from student to student, just because of their capabilities, the expectations they have and the career decision along with their finance background. One can take a drop if they are not sure that there are chances of improvement along with extra preparation. Be smarter and focused on JEE Mains. Also, the aspirant should be well aware of the coming consequences, such as getting bored, stressed, depressed or even frustrated over the next coming year. However, if one is still in doubt about the preparation or not confident then they should avoid dropping a year. In addition, if one is not mentally prepared for the risk then dropping a year can prove to be a waste.
Which top colleges can one get with a low score?
One can get a top college with a low score in JEE Mains by applying for the entrance exam of that particular college, in case of a private college, or by applying through Common Entrance Test (CET) for government colleges.

Should one wait for the subsequent counselling sessions?
One of the most important parts of the JEE Mains examination is the counselling sessions. One who is in doubt about what to be done after getting low marks in JEE Mains should attend the counselling session. One can also, at the same time, apply to the best colleges which require the JEE Mains score and wait for the results. It can help to decide what steps should be taken in case one secures fewer marks.
Should one opt to attempt JEE Mains again in May?
In 2018, the government blessed JEE aspirants to appear for the exam twice in a year, out of which the score of the best attempt is considered. Henceforth, if a student, who has appeared for JEE Mains in January and sensed that he/she has committed any mistake, can attempt the exam again in May, in order to score better.
These are the possibilities one should be prepared for if he/she scores low in the JEE Mains exam.

Yes, it is quite achievable to get the ECE specialisation at IIITDM Kancheepuram with a rank of 7000 in JEE Main 2025 for the General AI category. Generally the closing ranks should range between 23099 to 29987. However the cutoff may vary depending on category. One can view the First and Last round

Can you please confirm what you mean by “2027 mock test” — do you mean:
- BPSC 2027 Mock Test Series (for your upcoming exam prep)?
- Or a general mock test for 2027 government exams (like UPSC, SSC, Banking, etc.)?
- Or are you referring to a specific subject/year 2027 question paper mock (e.g., “BPSC 20

With a 300 SC category rank in CAT, your chances for NIT Trichy MBA are relatively high. Based on 2025 data, NIT Trichy generally shortlists SC candidates with CAT percentiles around 60-65. To achieve a 300 rank under SC category, you would need about a 65-70 percentile, or a score of roughly 60-65

Honestly, going for CSE at Chandigarh University with your score sounds like a solid choice. I'm saying this because CU has become a hub for tech placements and internships, and the environment is pretty competitive in a good way. Your 88 percentile in JEE Main could also land you a scholarship, whi

Yes. Students with valid JEE Main scores can apply for admissions through the WBJEE counselling. However, these students will be eligible for allotment only in the 10% approved seats offered by the self-financing colleges and institutes participating in the state-level counselling.

Yes the SRMJEEE paper pattern is similar to JEE Main however, the difficulty level is not equivalent to JEE main and the question paper is adjusted to moderate level difficulty level which will be easy for most students.
