IIT Madras PG Diploma 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has launched new Postgraduate Diploma (PG Diploma) programmes to equip fresh graduates and working professionals with industry-relevant technical skills in emerging technology domains. IIT Madras PG Diploma applications are now open, and candidates can apply until May 2025.
IIT Madras PG Diploma admission to these programmes will be based on an entrance examination scheduled for July 13, 2025. As per the schedule, the classes are set to begin in August/September 2025. Interested candidates can apply at: code.iitm.ac.in/webmtech.
Candidates who excel in the PG Diploma programme may be eligible to upgrade to a Web-Enabled M.Tech degree, offering them the chance to further deepen their technical expertise and earn a Master’s degree from IIT Madras.
IIT Madras PG Diploma Programme Specialisation
The IIT Madras PG Diploma programme offers specializations in Aerospace Engineering (including Aerospace Engineering and Ammunition Technology), Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering (covering Integrated Circuits, Communication & Signal Processing, Multimedia, and Microelectronics), Mechanical Engineering (with focuses on Mechanical Design and Automotive Technology), Engineering Design (E-Mobility), and Process Safety.
About IIT Madras PG Diploma Programme
Open to both fresh graduates and working professionals, the programme features hands-on projects and interim assessments conducted through remote proctoring. Final examinations will be held at designated centres across India.
This one-of-a-kind programme is designed with flexibility in mind, offering a work-compatible format that includes live online evening or weekend classes, along with access to recorded sessions enabling learners to balance academic growth with full-time jobs or internships.
Where applicable, students may also have the opportunity to visit the IIT Madras campus for lab sessions. Additionally, participants can choose to upgrade to a Web-Enabled M.Tech degree from IIT Madras, further enhancing their academic and professional trajectory.
Speaking about the need to launch the new program, Prof Vignesh Muthuvijayan, Associate Chair, Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), IIT Madras, said, “We are addressing the growing need for flexible, industry-relevant technical education that caters to the evolving aspirations of young graduates and working professionals. This program enables students to continue their learning journey without putting their careers on hold.”
To seek admission to the BTech programme offered at IIT Madras, candidates need to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill out the application form in online mode for JEE Main. For other courses such as MSc, MTech, BS-MS (Dual Degree) etc., candidates must visit the official website of the respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. IIT Madras admission to most of the courses is entrance-based.
No, IIT Madras does not have the provision of direct admission. The institute admits students based on valid HSEE entrance exam scores.
