IIT Madras Pravartak and SWAYAM Plus launch a short-term semiconductor training program with placement assistance for graduates; Courses led by IIT Faculty in physical mode for Engineering, Diploma, and Science students with an Electronics background.

IIT Madras Pravartak & SWAYAM Plus Launch Semiconductor Training

IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, in partnership with the Union Education Ministry's SWAYAM Plus initiative, is launching a skill-based training program in the semiconductor industry. This program targets engineering and science students and graduates from electronics, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and production fields. This short-term training program at IIT Madras will be delivered in physical mode and will concentrate on the semiconductor industry. It includes placement assistance for high-performing students and provides hands-on training to prepare them for the workforce.

The program seeks to motivate students and industry partners to pursue careers in electronics while addressing challenging scientific problems that align with societal needs and sustainable growth. It will offer hands-on training paired with theoretical background provided by experts from IIT Madras.

IIT Madras Pravartak & SWAYAM Plus Short-Term Courses

Comprehensive Electronics and Embedded Systems

This 9-day course provides hands-on training in electronics, covering basic circuit theory, analogue and digital circuits, sensors, and Arduino microcontrollers. Participants will design applications using sensors to measure temperature, humidity, light, sound, and pulse rate, displaying results on an LCD. The course also includes relay activation, motor control, and the use of switches and matrix keypads. Engineering, Diploma, or Science students and graduates with an electronics background. A foundational knowledge of electronics is required.

• Slot 1: November 9 to 17, 2024
• Slot 2: November 25 to December 3, 2024
• Slot 3: December 9 to 17, 2024

Comprehensive Electronics and Advanced Embedded Technology with IoT

This 14-day training program focuses on smart automation and control projects with sensor integration. Participants will work with cutting-edge embedded controllers such as Arduino, PIC, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32, while learning essential coding techniques including loops, arrays, and interrupts. Those with Engineering, Diploma, or Science students (pursuing or completed) with a background in Electrical/Electronics or Computer Science can apply.

• Slot 1: November 9 to 22, 2024
• Slot 2: November 25 to December 8, 2024
• Slot 3: December 9 to 22, 2024

Advanced Electronic Manufacturing with Power electronics fundamental:

This 11-day training program covers PCB assembly and soldering processes, including SMT reflow soldering and PCBA inspection systems. Engineering, Diploma, or Science students and graduates with an electronics background are eligible for this short-term course.

Training Schedule:

• Slot 1: November 18 to 29, 2024
• Slot 2: December 2 to 13, 2024
• Slot 3: December 30, 2024 to January 11, 2025

Digital Manufacturing Practice

This 12-day training program provides a practical approach to bridging the gap between theoretical engineering concepts and real-world manufacturing processes. It combines 20% theory with 80% hands-on experience. Engineering students who have completed their degree or are in their final year with a background in mechanical, manufacturing, or production.

Training Schedule:

• Slot 1: November 11 to 23, 2024
• Slot 2: December 2 to December 14, 2024
• Slot 3: December 16 to 30, 2024

Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Prof. R. Sarathi, Dean (Planning), IIT Madras, said, “Skills development is a National movement to provide Indians with opportunities to fully develop potential throughout their life, regardless of their prior experience. Through this movement, the skills, passion and contributions of every individual will drive India's next phase of development towards an advanced economy and inclusive society.”

The participation certificate will be issued by SWAYAM Plus in association with IIT Madras and IITM Pravartak. Accommodation will be offered at the IIT Madras campus at a basic cost of INR 650/- per day per student, which includes food and stay. Accommodation requests can be made 4 days ahead of the start of the respective training slots.
