CBSE 12th Topper Manas Jain with 94% aims to pursue BTech in Computer Science; Know his CBSE prep strategy

CBSE 12th Topper Interview: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared CBSE 12th Results 2023 on May 12, 2023, on the official websites results.cbse.nic.in. Class 12 CBSE board results overall pass percentage stood at 87.33. With an aim to crack JEE advanced, Manas Jain, a science stream student of Lovely Public Senior Secondary School, Priyadarshini Vihar, Delhi, aims to become a computer science engineer. In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Jain shared his strategy to score above 90% in CBSE 12th board exams 2023, career plans, tips for aspirants and more.

Manas secured a total of 470 marks out of 500 in CBSE 12th Board Exams, 94%. Talking about the marks break up, Jain told, he scored 87 marks in English, 95 marks in Physics, 96 marks in Chemistry, 96 marks in Computer Science and a perfect 97 in Mathematics. Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing the 12th results? Did you score what you expected?
A: I was absolutely delighted when I saw my result. I scored a bit less than expected in some subjects. Overall, I scored 470/500.
Q: Please tell us something about your family background.
A: I belong to a middle-class family. My father works in the private sector, my mother is a housewife and my sister is in college.
Q: Please tell about your stream, Did you choose this stream by choice?
A: I belong to the Science stream (PCM + Computer Science). The selection of the stream was solely my decision.

Q: What was your strategy to score above 90%?
A: My strategy was to dedicate at least 2 hour to my main subjects (PCM) on daily basis and I used to study English and computer science on weekend. I used to make proper notes and atleast revise all my notes from starting once a week of each subject, which helped me, a lot.
Q: Did you take any online or offline coaching?
A: I took offline coaching which played a major role to help me achieve this percentage.
Q: Who encouraged you the most in this journey?
A: I could say that many people encouraged me a lot during my journey but the best motivation was the smile on my family members face whenever I scored good marks in practise tests or unit tests.
Q: What was your routine during CBSE board exam preparation?
A: There was not any such schedule or any specific timetable. It was just like Whenever I felt like studying I studied. But yes i would say "NOTES", notes were very helpful at the last moment of board exam in this whole journey and in addition to this revising all the things was also an important thing.
Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming for?
A: My plan is to pursue BTech in Computer Science stream and become a software engineer.
Q: What entrance exams you are targeting?
A: I am targeting JEE entrance exam. I think my preparation is quite good but still I need a bit of improvement in some chapters.
Q: What are your expectations with JEE?
A: I have cleared my JEE mains exam and expect to clear Advance also with a good Rank.
Q: What all courses and Universities/Institutes are you targeting?
A: I am targeting for BTech. through IITs and NITs.
Q: Please share some tips for students prepping up to appear in CBSE Board Exams 2024
A: I would like to recommend to all students that are going to appear on boards to focus on their stream main subjects and give them a maximum of your time and avoid any distractions because it is only a matter of a year which can change your life. Also, everyone should remember that there is no substitute for hard work.
