UP Board 10th Exam Pattern 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) will soon release the UP Board Class 10 Exam Pattern 2026 for the students to understand the actual exam pattern. Students preparing for the upcoming UP Class 10 board exams 2026 should review the UPMSP 10th exam pattern for better preparation. It makes one familiar with the marking scheme, duration of the exam, types of questions asked in the exam, and more. UPMSP releases the UP Board class 10th Exam Pattern in the form of UP Board 10th model sample paper at upmsp.edu.in

Most of the papers in the UPMSP 10th exam comprise 70 marks that account for the theory, and the remaining 30 marks comprise the internal test and practicals. Students will have to answer 70 marks questions, out of which 50 marks will be distributed for descriptive-type questions and 20 marks will be for objective-type questions.

UPMSP will conduct the UP Board 10th exams 2026 between February 18 and March 12, 2026.

Q:   What is the marking scheme for the UP Board Class 10 subjects?
A: 

Most subjects have a 100-mark paper. Some, like Science and Computer, have theory and practical components (e.g., 70 marks for theory and 30 for practical). Objective questions are usually 20 marks in subjects like Hindi or Science. The rest of the marks are distributed among short and long answer questions. Students are suggested to check the officially releaed marking scheme for better preparation.

Q:   What is the total marks of the UP 10th exam?
A: 

The exam comprises 6 subjects namely Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, Home Science, and Social Science. The total mark of the UP 10th Board exam is 600. 100 marks is distributed in each subject. Only Science paper has practical exams. Out of 100, 70 marks are distributed for theory exams in Science papers. On the other hand, 30 marks are for practical exams. In other papers, 80 marks are distributed for theory exams while a maximum of 20 marks are given for Internal Assessments.

UP Board 10th Grading Pattern

In the UP Board Class 10th exams, 70 marks allotted for theory and rest 30 marks for internal test and practicals. If a student isn't able to clear one subject except for Hindi, he/she will still clear the exams. In case a student fails to clear two subjects, he/she can appear in the compartment exams. The State Board also has a provision that if a student is unable to clear three subjects, he/she can appear only in those three subjects the next academic year. 

English (three hours)

  • English paper consists of both grammar and literature
  • The question paper is divided into sections A and B, in which each section carries 35 marks
  • Part A tests the students’ knowledge of literature comprising prose and poetry
  • Part B tests the students’ language skills that consist of grammar, letter writing, essay, and comprehension
  • There are a total of 15 questions
  • Marks are indicated against each question

Mathematics (three hours)

  • Mathematics question paper is divided into several sections including Number System and Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Geometry, Trigonometry, Taxation, Statistics, Mensuration and Commercial Maths.   

Hindi (three hours)

  • The paper has two sections, in which the first tests the literary knowledge and the second tests the language skills of the students. 
  • While the first section deals with prose and poetry, the second comprises grammar and essay.  

Science (three hours)

  • The paper is divided into three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.  
  • The first part consists of questions related to light and the impact of electricity. 
  • The second section includes the nature and behavior of chemical substances and organic chemistry. 
  • The final section pertains to questions on the bio world, genetics and bio development. 

Home Science (three hours)

  • The question paper involves questions on various sections such as house management, health care, textile and cotton science, food and nutrition science, first aid, and homecare. 

Social Science (three hours)

  • The question paper includes history, civics, environmental science and economics. 
  • While history carries 20 marks,15 marks have been allotted for civics, 20 for environmental studies and 15 for economics. 

Computer (three hours)

The paper is divided into six sections as given below:

  • Computer and communication (15 marks)
  • Linux operating system (10 marks)
  • Binary Semantic and Logic Gates (10 marks)
  • Advanced programming in C (10 marks)
  • Arrays and String (15 marks)
  • File Operations (10 marks)
