Joint Entrance Exam or JEE Mains is one of the world’s toughest exam that requires rigorous preparation to crack, let alone score well. It becomes a little bit tougher when you have to prepare for it along with your board exams.
If you are someone who is aiming to score 300+ marks in JEE Mains then have a clear idea about the exam and then study accordingly. Many students who prepare for as long as three years are also sometimes unable to score 300+. However, that doesn’t mean that there are no exceptions. You will find a lot of students for whom JEE Mains is a cakewalk, mainly because their concepts are clear about the pattern of the exam. So, always clear your concepts rather than preparing based on the hit-and-trial method.
Explore colleges based on JEE Main
The first step towards scoring 300+ marks is to find a mentor that can guide you all along. If you fail to get one, you can visit shiksha.com as there are many well-experienced mentors who will be ready to help you round the clock. Without getting proper guidance, all your efforts will be worthless.
After guidance, the most important thing is to get the right books to study. You will have different suggestions coming from different people about choosing the right book. These suggestions will help you pick a variety of traditional and some modern-day books. The primary books that come in this category are the NCERTs. Unlike the usual belief, if you want to score more than 300 marks then solve NCERT’s questions properly. You will be amazed to see the number of conceptual questions it has. Later, you could opt for Irodov, HC Verma, RD Sharma and some self-study coaching material as in these books you will get questions from the best faculties of the country.
Now when you are done with the study material, have a look at the examination blueprint given at the starting of each book. See what topic is more important as every year there are slight changes in the paper structure, hence you have to study accordingly. While most of the things remain the same, the most important topics in mathematics are co-ordinating geometry, P&C and differential equations. In Physics, equilibrium and tension/stress are important. In Chemistry, they are organic chemistry, s-block and p-block.
Study each and every topic, but mainly focus on the topics that have more weightage in the exam as when rank clashes, these are the things that define the student’s position.
The most important thing is the revision. Devote the last 10 days before the actual examination for revision, as this will boost up your confidence in your preparation.
In those 10 days, build up your speed to solve questions as well. Scoring 300+ in JEE Mains needs speed to read all the questions and then solving almost all of them in those 180 minutes.
To sum it up, if you follow all these steps then you are most likely to get 300+ by studying in the last month of the exam. These are all the major steps that a top scorer needs to follow.
