JEE Main is an important part of anyone’s life who wants to begin their journey as an IITian or get the chance for admission in any renowned college. While JEE Main brings an opportunity for a student to witness the renowned colleges, it also brings hardships for students. However, if one finds their way out with proper preparations and perfect planning, it won't be a hard shell to crack.
In the last week
Last week left for JEE Main? You don't need to panic. Just find these simple easy steps to follow with your plans and you can succeed conveniently.
- On a wider note, many students tend to forget things during examinations due to nervousness and loss of concentration. Don't panic and focus on your main goal.
- Also, this is not the time to get started with new chapters. Focus only on the chapters read previously as new chapters will bring new doubts and confusion.
- Last week's attention requires practice and more practice! Try to get through the test papers or previous year question papers to get a better hold of questions asked in the exams.
- Try to strict yourself with the time limit while solving the question papers. This will allow you to know your speed and strategies while answering.
- Last but not least, do not try to answer the questions that are doubtful. You might end up with negatively marked questions due to guessing.
Manage your time well
While the exam is conducted in three segments in three hours, it is also conducted in three phases. These phases include:
Explore colleges based on JEE Main
First Round: This round is conducted for the students to attempt all the easy questions first that would require a less time frame. These questions are thus, framed with a sufficient level of understanding. If prepared and planned well, one can solve a question within 1.5 minutes with high-speed accuracy. This section should not take more than 1.5 hours to solve all the questions.
Second Round: Now go ahead and choose the questions left by you in the first round that would take more time to get solved. The chosen questions should not be the difficult ones and should be completed within 3 minutes of the time frame for each question. This can help you resolve the pattern of the question paper while conducting it effectively.
Third Round: Now, in the last 30 minutes of your time left, choose the relevant questions required for a larger time frame and attempt them. Again, do not try guessing the answers. Leave it, if not sure and use that time to check the previous answers.
Top topics to score
There are certainly a few topics that are an essential and core part of the exam and are also easy to develop interests. Follow these topics for your JEE Main preparation and get a good grip of your exam and grades:
Physics:
- Dimensional Analysis
- Gravitation & Electrostatics
- Current Electricity & Heat Transfer
- Electromagnetic Induction, Waves & Sound
- Geometrical Optics, Thermodynamics
- Kinetic Theory of Gases, Rotational Dynamics
Math:
As a matter of fact, there is a combination of all the chapters that follow the pattern in mathematics. There is no such important chapter that can be reflected specifically in the JEE main paper as every chapter is interconnected through formulas. Thus, one is required to read and practice all the chapters included in Maths for JEE Mains. However, it can be said that every chapter covers an average of 5% weightage in the question paper. Therefore, it is crucial to practice all the chapters thoroughly while preparing for the exams.
Chemistry:
- Chemical Bonding & the periodic table
- Carbonyl Compounds & their derivatives
- Redox reactions
- Mole Concept & the concept of equivalents
- Solid State, solutions & gases theory
- Thermochemistry & the Second Law of Thermodynamics
As told earlier, this not all. If you want to get good grades and prepare the best, go ahead to study the most you can. Also, other chapters include a minimum of up to three percent weightage in the JEE Mains question paper.
However, do not restrict yourself to gather new information and include other chapters as a part of your studies. This is just a short inclusion of important chapters asked in the JEE mains. Moreover, there are numerous chapters also that cover two percent weightage or more from each chapter.
Manage JEE preparation during Class 12th
It is a hard task to manage both things together, yet it is not impossible. Follow these quick and easy steps with dedication and hard work to work all the hassles along your way.
While JEE Main is about practicing your concepts, Boards are meant to look after the theories. Thus, focus on the key concepts of the theory aspects that will allow you to get a hold of all the concepts that can be practiced. Moreover, revise, plan and understand the pattern build for both the exams to crack it easily. Also, focus on completing the syllabus and practicing the previous year question papers to become an expert.

With a JEE Main percentile of 90.94 and CRL rank ~1.4 Lacs (female, general category), you have realistic chances in mid-tier NITs (later rounds), state government colleges, and strong private universities in Tamil Nadu and Bangalore for ECE/EEE. Top NITs/IIITs are unlikely, but good regional option

With a JEE Main 2026 rank of 400,510 (≈ 70 percentile), admission to NITs, IIITs, or top GFTIs through JoSAA counseling is not possible.
Why?

With a JEE Main CRL rank of ~79,364 and an EWS category rank of ~11,884, you have a realistic chance of securing CSE in several mid-tier NITs, newer IIITs, and some GFTIs. Top NITs (Trichy, Surathkal, Warangal, Allahabad) are out of reach, but options like NIT Jalandhar, NIT Hamirpur, IIIT Kota, III
