Overview

SSC GD Exam Dates 2026: The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC GD 2026 tentative answer key on June 15 at ssc.gov.in. The candidates’ Response Sheet(s) along with the Tentative Answer Key(s) are also now available. The representations/challenges against the Tentative Answer Keys, if any, may be submitted online only from June 15 (06:00 PM) to June 20 (06:00 PM) on a payment of INR 50/-(Rupees fifty Only) per question/answer challenged.The exam was conducted from April 27 to May 30 in four phases. The SSC GD Constable exam was conducted online as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE).

SSC GD Constable Selection Process

The exam process for the SSC GD begins with the release of the official notification. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) issued the official SSC GD notification PDF, mentioning all the important eligibility conditions, vacancies, syllabus, and exam pattern. The exact dates related to the exam are also mentioned on the official SSC GD notification. 

SSC GD Selection Process 2026

The recruitment process for SSC GD Constable comprises:

  1. CBE (online exam)
  2. PET/ PST (physical test)
  3. DV/ Medical Exam

All those candidates who successfully apply for the exam are required to appear for the SSC GD Constable exam. The exam is of one hour duration and carries a total of 160 marks. The total number of questions asked in the exam is 80, and the marks allotted to each question are two marks. There is a negative marking for incorrect answers of 0.25 marks. Candidates need to qualify for all the stages of the SSC GD exam to finally get selected for the final SSC GD result. In PET/PST, candidates will be assessed based on their height parameters.

Q:   What is SSC GD post?
A: 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conductes the SSC GD exam every year for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other forces. The SSC GD post is generally referred to Constable GD, Riflemen GD and Sepoy. These posts are filled in the following forces:

  • Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)
  • Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP)
  • Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)
  • National Investigation Agency (NIA)

Q:   What is the age limit for SSC GD?
A: 

Candidates must be of minimum 18 years of age in order to be eligible for SSC GD exam. The upper SSC GD age limit is 23 years. However, the Commission provides a relaxation in the upper age limit for all the reserved categories such as OBC, SC, ST, ExS and others. The SSC GD age limit relaxation for SC category is five years, for OBC and Ex-Servicemen is three years. Refer SSC GD Eligibility Criteria for detailed age limit criteria.

Q:   Which is most repetitive question in SSC GD?
A: 

There are no such repetitive questions in the SSC GD Constable exam. However, the topics and types are generally the same almost every year. The Commission makes changes in the difficulty level of the same topics asked in the exam. Moreover, the Commission may give more weight to one topic this year and another topic next year. For example, there may be more questions on the number system in 2025, and in 2026, the Mathematics section may include more questions on Algebra. So, Candidates need to prepare all the topics and sections carefully.

  • Candidates need to fulfill SSC GD height/ weight requirement and undergo measurement of height, weight and chest as mentioned in the official notification
  • Candidates need to perform a race within the given SSC GD running time limits.
Q:   How the final allocation of candidates is done in SSC GD exam?
A: 

The final allocation of candidates is done based on the performance of candidates in the CBE and the preference chosen by the candidates. The SSC GD PST/PET and medical examination (DME) are qualifying in nature. Candidates need to get into the SSC GD final merit list to get shortlisted for post allocation.
