SSC GD Exam Dates 2026: The Staff Selection Commission is expected to soon declare the SSC GD result 2026 on the official portal at ssc.gov.in. The tentative answer key along with the response sheet was released on June 15. The answer key challenge window was opened from June 15 to June 20. The exam was held from April 27 to May 30 in four phases. The SSC GD Constable exam was conducted online as a Computer-Based Exam (CBE).

SSC GD 2027 Exam Date

The SSC GD 2026 exam was started on April 27. Candidates can check week-wise schedule below:

SSC GD Constable Selection Process

The exam process for the SSC GD begins with the release of the official notification. The Commission issued the official SSC GD notification PDF, mentioning all the important eligibility conditions, vacancies, syllabus, and exam pattern. 

SSC GD Selection Process 2026

The recruitment process for SSC GD Constable comprises:

  1. CBE (online exam)
  2. PET/ PST (physical test)
  3. DV/ Medical Exam

SSC GD PET/PST

SSC GD Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) are conducted at test centres finalised by CAPFs.

Candidates are shortlisted for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) of the SSC GD exam based on their performance in PET/PST.

Finally, candidates have to undergo a detailed medical exam (DME) conducted by CAPFs.

Final SSC GD Result

The final SSC GD result is declared by the Staff Selection Commission for candidates who qualify for all three stages of the exam. The candidates selected in the final result are assigned to the opted forces and the states as per their preference and the vacancies.

About Slot Booking Window
With the help of this facility, candidates will be able to choose their preferred date of an examination, shift and city. The slot booking window will remain open for a limited period of time. They need to login the SSC portal by using their credentials including their Registration ID and Password. Slots are also allotted on the first-come, first-served basis. Then after selecting the slot candidates need to confirm the slot to lock it. Then, candidate should download the confirmation page.

Q:   What is the age limit for SSC GD?
A: 

Candidates must be of minimum 18 years of age in order to be eligible for SSC GD exam. The upper SSC GD age limit is 23 years. However, the Commission provides a relaxation in the upper age limit for all the reserved categories such as OBC, SC, ST, ExS and others. The SSC GD age limit relaxation for SC category is five years, for OBC and Ex-Servicemen is three years. Refer SSC GD Eligibility Criteria for detailed age limit criteria.

Q:   What is SSC GD post?
A: 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conductes the SSC GD exam every year for the recruitment of Constable (General Duty) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other forces. The SSC GD post is generally referred to Constable GD, Riflemen GD and Sepoy. These posts are filled in the following forces:

  • Border Security Force (BSF)
  • Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)
  • Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)

One year is enough for SSC GD exam preparation. Candidates must begin the preparation by going through the pattern and syllabus. Practicing previous years' question papers proves out to the best stratgey to crack the exam with flying colours.

Q:   Which is most repetitive question in SSC GD?
A: 

There are no such repetitive questions in the SSC GD Constable exam. However, the topics and types are generally the same almost every year. The Commission makes changes in the difficulty level of the same topics asked in the exam. Moreover, the Commission may give more weight to one topic this year and another topic next year. For example, there may be more questions on the number system in 2025, and in 2026, the Mathematics section may include more questions on Algebra. So, Candidates need to prepare all the topics and sections carefully.

Q:   Is there any physical test for SSC GD?
A: 

Yes, there is physical test in the SSC GD Constable exam. Candidates who clear the SSC GD exam (CBE) are called to appear for the physical test which is conducted by the CRPF. The SSC GD physical test comprises following process:

  • Candidates need to fulfill SSC GD height/ weight requirement and undergo measurement of height, weight and chest as mentioned in the official notification
  • Candidates need to perform a race within the given SSC GD running time limits.
Q:   How the final allocation of candidates is done in SSC GD exam?
A: 

The final allocation of candidates is done based on the performance of candidates in the CBE and the preference chosen by the candidates. The SSC GD PST/PET and medical examination (DME) are qualifying in nature. Candidates need to get into the SSC GD final merit list to get shortlisted for post allocation.
