CAT 2016 is over. When entering the exam centre, there was nervousness and anxiety among the aspirants. For some, this was their first attempt at the exam, while some candidates had appeared for the exam previously also. Some aspirants were tensed about their exam performance while some were relaxed, and were confident about their preparations.
To know about the different approaches of CAT 2016 aspirants, Shiksha spoke to a few candidates who appeared in the first slot of the exam. Some candidates found paper easy while some had a tough time cracking the nut. This year, the marking scheme saw a major twist. Candidates were allotted 1 Mark for every correct answer as compared to 3 marks per correct answer until last year.

Ayush Goel said, "This was my second attempt at CAT. This year, LR, Quant and VARC were easy and doable. If a candidate has done immense amount of practice, he/she can easily attempt 20 questions from these sections. DI was of moderate difficulty. Compared to last year, this year the paper was easy."
Vivek Sardana appeared for CAT for the first time. This is what he had to say about the exam, "Quant section was a little difficult for me. VA was extremely easy while DI was of moderate difficulty. In the English section, there were no questions based on vocabulary - it was all based on General English."

Atishay who was appearing for the very first time said, "Though I had practiced well enough, I found the DI section tough. Quant and VA was easy for me. I could attempt a good number of questions in both the sections."
Namish too tried his hand at the exam for the first time and this is what he had to say about the exam paper, "The VR and RC sections were quite easy. DILR was tough tand Quant was of moderate difficulty."
Anand too spoke to Shiksha. "According to me, the DILR was of moderate difficulty. Talking about the Quant section, the questions in the beginning were tough, but as the paper progressed, the questions were easy.
Overall, CAT 2016 exam student reactions was a mixed bag with some calling it difficult and some calling it easy.

Empire College of Science MBA admissions are merit-based and generally do not require any entrance exams. Hence, having CAT score will not make much of a difference on admission chances. However, students may check with the college to know more.

Aspirants does accept CAT score for admission in MBA programme of United Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. Candidates have to participate in UPTAC Counselling for admission based on CAT scores. Direct admission is also granted by the institute.

No, CAT is not compulsory for Shri Ram Murti Smarak International Business School admissions. For its MBA programme, the institute also accepts other exams. These are CMAT/ MAT/ XAT/ ATMA. Direct admissions are also offered.

No, CAT is not a mandatory entrance exam for IEM Kolkata MBA admission. Candidates who wish to apply for MBA courses have the option to appear for MAT or XAT in order to qualify for admissions as well. Candidates must note that appearing for one of these exams is mandatory in order to qualify for IE

Yes, students can not get admission in NMIMS Navi Mumbai MBA without CAT. Students are selected through NMAT score. Hence, appearing for CAT is not required. Students can check the official site to know more about the programme.

Yes, you should prepare for SNAP separately, especially with regard to sample question and mock test practice. Even if you don't cover the syllabus separately, practice SNAP mock test specifically.

Candidates wishing to take admission in MBA at RGIPT should have passed graduation with a minimum of 60% aggregate and a valid score in CAT/MAT/XAT. CAT scores are taken into consideration, but it is not compulsory. Candidates can appear for other MBA entrance exams as well.
