CBSE Exam Class 10 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) RELEASED the tentative CBSE 10th date sheet 2026 on its official website- cbse.nic.in. Phase 1 of CBSE Class 10 exams 2026 will be held between  February 15 and March 9, 2026. CBSE 10th phase 2 exams 2026 will be conducted between May 15 and June 1, 2026. Students can also check the detailed CBSE exam class 10 date sheet 2026 by clicking on the Dates tab above. 

Phase 1 of CBSE Class 10 exams 2026 is mandatory for all students. Phase 2 exams will be optional for students who wish to improve their performance in any of the subjects out of Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and languages. This move is in line with the New Economic Policy (NEP) 2020. Students will be allowed to retain the score from their best of two attempts.  The internal assessment for CBSE Class 10 exam will be conducted only once in the academic session.

The CBSE released the CBSE Class 10 syllabus 2025-26 and marking scheme. About CBSE Exam Class 10

The CBSE conducts CBSE Exam Class 10 every year in pen and paper mode for students studying in Class 10. Those who clear their Class 9 exams from any recognized board of education and have studied for a year in Class 10 are eligible to sit for CBSE 10th board examinations. Students are required to pay the examination fees to register for these exams.

The Board released the CBSE 10th 2025-26 syllabus and sample papers for all subjects on the official website. Students can download it and start preparing for their Board exams 2026.

CBSE 10th Board Exams 2025-26 - What's New?

Here are some of the changes introduced by the Board in the current academic session:

  • CBSE Exam Class 10 2026 to be Conducted Twice

Fixed schedule, no deviation; no special exams will be conducted under any circumstances.

Practical Assessment

Only one practical exam will be conducted for all students.

Passing Criteria

Students need to pass five subjects for a pass status.

Merit Certificates

Issued post 2nd examination for those qualifying in all subjects.

Improvement Option

Students failing in 1 to 5 subjects will be placed under the Improvement Category.

Additional Subjects

No additional subjects will be permitted after passing Class X.

Marking System

Better marks from the first or second exam will be recorded on the Marksheet.

Feedback Mechanism

The policy will be reviewed and finalized after collecting feedback from stakeholders.

  • Study and Exam Scheme: The scheme of studies and scheme of examinations will be simplified, with a focus on more efficient and practical assessments.
  • Support for CWSN Students: The facilities extended to CWSN (Children With Special Needs) students will continue, as per current provisions, ensuring equal opportunities for all students.
  • Sports Students: Students involved in sports will appear in one of the two exams and will not have a separate examination.
  • Examination Centres: Students will be allotted the same examination centre for both the first and second phases of exams. No self-centres will be permitted.
  • Loc Filling DeadlineList of Candidates (LOC) for the first examination must be completed by the end of September the year before the exams. There will be no changes in subject offerings after the submission of LOC for the first exam.
  • Fees and Supplementary Exams: The examination fees will be non-refundable once paid for the first exam. The first and second exams will also act as supplementary exams.
  • Practical/Internal Assessment: Practical and internal assessments will be conducted only once in the year.

CBSE Exam Class 10 Date Sheet 2026
