IIT BHU IIT Varanasi (BHU) Admission 2025: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Selection

The dates for JoSAA counselling 2026 choice filling will be announced once the result of JEE Main 2026 is declared. Candidates can fill choices only during the choice filling period. Also, candidates need to lock their choices before the last date.

The hostel fee at IIT BHU is INR 300 per semester. This fee does not include electricity charges, Gymkhana, Medical, Amenities and other hostel services. A total of INR 5,000 (approx.) needs to be submitted during the admission to get a hostel and other facilities. The institute has 16 hostels for boys and girls separately.

IIT Varanasi has released the category-wise cutoffs for various BTech specialisations. For BTech admissions, JEE Advanced is conducted widely by IITs. A JEE Advanced rank of 3000 under OBC category can be considered as the decent rank, however, this rank is insufficient to secure BTech in CSE programme in 2024. IIT BHU offers MSc courses based on IIT JAM scores. Candidates having valid IIT JAM ranks will be allowed to take part in counselling rounds. For 2023, the cut-off was 10232 for General category candidates in All India quota for BTech in Civil Engineering in IIT BHU, Varanasi - Indian Institute of Technology. For female candidates in the general category under the All India quota, 16396 was the closing rank. BTech cut-off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

For candidates belonging to the OBC category under the AI quota, the IIT BHU JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 varied between 528 and 6900 for admission to the BTech course across multiple specialisations. Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate is the basic eligibility for MSc offered at IIT Varanasi. Candidates with a minimum of aggregate are eligible for the course.

For 2025, the IIT Varanasi JEE Advanced cutoff ranged between 1489 and 20792 for BTech admission across multiple specialisations based on the last round cutoff list for the General AI category candidates, wherein BTech in Computer Science & Engineering was the most competitive. Those students who are aiming for top specialisation should strive to attain a rank of 1489 or lower to increase their chances of admission at IIT BHU. Although please keep in mind that the cutoff will vary across different categories and rounds.

Yes, IIT BHU offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students. Besides, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarships, reimbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. All the students (non-sponsored) admitted to M.Tech or MPharm programmes are provided financial assistance equivalent to the Junior Research Fellowships. The institute also offers a large number of Junior/Senior Research Fellowships to students admitted to PhD programmes.

IIT Varanasi provides ten BTech specialisations, including Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutics Engineering & Technology, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics Engineering. Eligibility for BTech admission at IIT Varanasi is based on meeting the criteria for JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Prospective students who have completed their Class 12 in the Science stream with a minimum of 75% aggregate (or 65% for SC/ST/PwD) are eligible to apply.
