MICAT Exam Pattern 2026: Get Latest Paper Pattern, Marking Scheme, Exam Duration

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad conducts the MICAT exam as a computer based test from centres. Candidates need to appear at the allotted test centre to take the computer based MICAT exam. At the MICAT exam centre, each candidate is allotted a computer system. Candidates have to log in with the credentials to take the exam. Once the candidate logs in to the computer system, the responses will be recorded against a test taker ID. Further, this test taker ID will be helpful in evaluating MICAT scores.

The duration of the MICAT exam may change from year to year. MICA, Ahmedabad, does not specify all the details of the MICAT exam pattern. However, based on the previous year's trends MICAT exam will have to be completed within a time frame of 135 minutes. These 135 minutes are divided across three sections, that is Psychometric Test, Descriptive Test, and Aptitude Test. Additionally, candidates need to take the section in the prescribed order only. However, the choice of navigation is provided within the Section-C whiel answering questions in the sub-sections.

Psychometric test of MICAT exam helps in screening candidates for the programmes offered by Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad. MICAT's Psychometric Test helps assess candidate's behavioural and psychological attributes to find whether an individual is right fit for the course or not.

Psychometric Test in MICAT involves 150 questions. These questions are objective type questions or onw word answer questions with two or more options. Candidates may find True/False type questions. MICA typically analyses the following attributes of a candidatre using the Psychometric Test:

• Deductive & Inductive Logic
• Decision Making

Section C of MICAT is the Aptitude Test. This section has four sub sections with around 70 questions. The Aptitude Test section of the MICAT exam had negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect response.

The Psychometric Test is a preliminary test to assesses a candidate's behavioral and psychological traits before their aptitude is assessed in the MICAT exam. MICAT selection criteria requires applicants to have a valid score in CAT/XAT/GMAT. Score in the national level exam has a weightage of 20 per cent while preparation of merit list. Additionally, the MBA exam score helps shortlisting candidate for the GE-PI. Candidates have to meet the CAT/XAT/GMAT cutoff scores to be assessed for their performance in Section-B. Candidates whpo do not meet the cutoff score are not evaluated for Section B as well as Section C. Therefore, appearing for the national level MBA entrance exam is mandatory to participate in the MICA PGDM admission process. 

Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, does not release MICAT syllabus. However, names of the section are released to help candidates prepare for the test. Candidates can prepare for the MICAT exam based on the general syllabus prescribed for each section of the exam. Psychometric test does not have a syllabus as it does not have any right or wrong answers; the section helps assessing a candidate's behaviour and approach towards the PG degree on offer. To prepare for the Aptitude section of the MICAT exam, candidates can refer to the books prescribed for any other MBA entrance exam.

Yes. MICAT exam has sectional time limit. Candidates have to complete a particular section within the specified time frame. MICA has designed MICAT with three sections. First section, that is a Psychometric Test, must be completed within a time limit of 30 minutes. Further, time limit for Section B, Descriptive Test, is set as 25 minutes. Candidates need to answer all four questions from Section-B within 25 minutes. The last section, i.e. Section-C has four sub-sections. The entire section C has to be completed within 80 minutes. While answering questions in section C, candidates could navigate across the sub sections.

The exam structure of MICAT may change every year. Based on the previous year's analysis, here is what candidates can expect from the MICAT exam. MICAT exam has three sections, with four sub-sections in Section C.

• Section A, that is the Psychometric test had MCQ type questions with two or eight options.
• Section B, the descriptive test have four subjective questions.
• Section C has four sub-sections with MCQ types questions with upto eight options.

Section A and B do not have any negative marking, while Section-C has negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect response.
