Raksha Gopal from Amity International School, Noida, was in for a great surprise when the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared Class XII Board exam results around 10 am on May 28. A Humanities student, she scored the highest marks by securing 99.6% in Class 12 board exams 2017 and bagged a hundred in three subjects - English, Political Science and Economics. While she secured 99 in the other two subjects - History and Psychology. Besides being an outstanding student, Raksha is also a pianist and has completed grade V in electronic keyboard from the Trinity College, London.
The second place in CBSE Class 12 board exams this year was bagged by Bhumi Sawant, a Science student from DAV Chandigarh. She secured 99.4% marks by scoring 100 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Computer Science and 97 in English. According to her teachers, Bhumi is pretty good at playing Harmonium.

Bhumi was followed by Mannat Luthra and Aditya Jain from Chandigarh who jointly bagged the third place by scoring 99.2%. Both Mannat and Aditya are Commerce students. While Mannat bagged 100 marks in Maths and Accounts, Aditya secured full marks in economics and business studies and 98 in English.

Preparation Strategy: Raksha followed everything her teachers told and would always clear her doubts. According to her, her schools and teachers helped her a lot while preparations. Students were asked to take a lot of mock tests which cleared all her doubts. Besides academics, she was also engaged in French classes.
Success Tips: Quality matters not quantity. Focus on the quality of the syllabus and not quantity. It’s the quality that will help you score in boards. Do not treat Class 12 Board exams as the end of the world. It does not define your life.
Future Plans: Raksha wants to study Political Science Honours and aims to join Jesus and Mary College, Lady Shri Ram College or Miranda House for the same. Once she joins college, she would decide what she wants to do in the future.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Second Topper: Bhumi Sawant
Marks: 99.4% | Stream: Science
School: DAV Chandigarh
Preparation Strategy: Bhumi worked hard round the clock. She gave more than four to five hours to studies after school and tuitions.
Success Tips: Do the best in your exam and do not worry about the results. Be focused on your studies. Hard-work in the key to success so do not be depressed.
Future Plans: Bhumi wants to pursue BTech in Computer Science from a reputed college in India. She also appeared for JEE Main 2017 and scored 198.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Third Topper (Joint Topper): Mannat Luthra
Marks: 99.2% | Stream: Commerce
School: Bhawan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh
Preparation Strategy: Mannat dedicated six to seven hours a day throughout the year and stayed away from social media for an entire year.
Success Tips: Never be deterred by failure. Your willpower and positive nature is the only road to success.
Future Plans: Mannat plans to study Economics Honors and later on dreams to become an IAS officer.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Third Topper (Joint Topper): Aditya Jain
Marks: 99.2% | Stream: Commerce
School: Bhawan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh
Preparation Strategy: Aditya is against exhausting oneself and studying for very long hours. Though he worked hard but never studied for more than three to four hours a day. He had a time-table and gave equal importance to each subject.
Success Tips: Anything is possible with hard-work, grit and determination. Put quality time to studies.
Future Plans: Aditya aims of becoming an economist. As of now, he is eying SRCC. Aditya wants to join the Civil services and serve the nation.
