After listing out MBA stereotypes, we now list for you the most common attributes students at the most popular engineering colleges in India possess.
Statutory warning: This article is only a fun initiative wherein we try to list out the most common personality traits students at engineering colleges possess. At no point are we saying that students at engineering colleges have a herd mentality. We are just listing out the common traits most students from different engineering colleges reflect.
IIT Delhi: Nerds
The first thing you notice about IIT Delhi freshers is that they are rather simple and extremely studious, when they enter college. So much so, that the hobbies that most of them pursue are on the lines of perfecting the art of aeromodelling and the likes. However, a year on campus, students at this engineering college start to discover their cool quotient. And well then there is no stopping them!

IIT Bombay: Allrounders
Smooth talkers, IIT Bombay students are the coolest to hang out with. They are extremely well spoken and eager to discuss any and every topic under the sun. And trust us, when we say they will know each and every aspect of the topic they so confidently agreed to discuss. Apart from that, students at this engineering college are well connected with the world and good at networking as well.
IIT Madras: Geeks
Just like the place it is situated in, IIT Madras students are extremely simple. Also, they prefer talking in a “to-the-point” fashion, so don’t expect them to beat around the bush. Extremely geeky, most of them are bookworms and you would often find that they are almost cut-off from things happening outside campus. But, to get them talking, just start up a conversation on sci-fi stuff and then there is no stopping them.
IIT Kanpur: Secretive
The impression of students from IIT Kanpur is that they do not divulge any information, so much so that they sometimes come across as “stuck up” or even “plain rude” individuals. But on hindsight, they are extremely tech-friendly and most of them are good in academics with in-depth knowledge of the subject they choose to master in.
IIT Kharagpur: Travelers
Most of the students from IIT Kharagpur are huge on pursuing some or the other hobby and our personal belief is that they are good with photography, or that’s what came across when we were doing our beautiful engineering campuses article. Apart from this, IIT Kharagpur’s students are well-groomed and know how to carry themselves with panache. But the key point is that students from this engineering college are extremely adventurous and love to travel. Well, we don’t blame them considering the location of their college.
BITS Pilani: Networkers
The cool dudes, BITS Pilani students are very confident and chilled out. They love to talk, meet new people and build connections. High on networking, BITS Pilani students offer great company and are fun to be with. So much so that students from other engineering colleges also refer to them as the party animals.
