Candidates can use the memory-based GATE DA 2026 question paper with solutions to calculate the marks before the GATE result 2026 is announced.   • Candidates must download GATE DA question paper PDF
  • In GATE 2026, each question is allotted either 1 or 2 marks
  • There is negative marking for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  1.  For one-mark MCQs, 1 mark is given for correct answer, and 1/2 marks is deducted for incorrect response. 
  2.  For 2-mark MCQs, 2 marks is given for correct answers, and 2/3 marks reduced for incorrect answers.
  • There is no negative marking for Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

GATE 2026 Result Date

IIT Guwahati will announce the GATE 2026 result on March 19, 2026. Candidates can check their result on the GOAPS portal by entering their login details like enrollment ID and password. Candidates will be able to download the GATE scorecard on March 27, 2026. The validity of GATE scorecard is three years.

No, GATE questions are not exactly repeated. However, the concept, core, and question format may remain the same. Therefore, candidates must focus on concept-building and practice GATE PYQs as many times as possible. In addition, solve mock test paper to improve accuracy and time management.

Yes, GATE has negative marking for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only. In GATE question paper, MCQs will be of one and two marks. Hence, the marking scheme for such questions can be checked below -

  • For one mark MCQ - 1/3rd mark will be deducted
  • For two mark MCQ - 2/3rd mark will be deducted

NHCE Bangalore accepts GATE score for admission to M.Tech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants can also get into M.Tech course based on their Karnataka PGCET scores. Selected candidates have to confirm their seat by paying the course fees.
