GATE 2026 Official Answer Key Release Date

IIT Guwahati will release GATE official answer key 2026 provisional in the last week of Feb, as per the last year trend. Students will also get the facility to raise objection by paying a fee of INR 500 per question. If the answer key challenge is accepted by the authorities, then it will be reflected in the GATE final answer key 2026. No objections can raised against the final key, as the result will be announced based on its data. 

How to calculate probable scores using GATE XE Answer Key Solutions PDF?

To calculate scores, students have to use the GATE marking scheme. The process to calculate can be checked below -

  • Download GATE XE question paper 2026
  • Questions of GATE either carry 1 or 2 marks.
  • So, tally your responses with unofficial GATE answer key
  • For one-mark MCQs, add 1 mark for correct answer, and deduct 1/2 marks for incorrect response. 
  • In the same way, for 2-mark MCQs, add 2 marks for correct answers, and deduct 2/3 marks for incorrect responses. 

GATE 2026 Result Date

IIT Guwahati will announce the GATE result 2026 on March 19. Students who appeared for the MTech engineering entrance exam will be able to check their qualifying status. Along with the result, the authorities will also publish GATE 2026 qualifying cutoff mark for each subject.

GATE Scorecard 2026 Date

After the announcement of GATE MTech result 2026, IIT Guwahati will issue GATE scorecard to qualifying applicants. The GATE scorecard release date is March 27 and will be available for free download till May 31, 2026. Later, candidates can download their result scorecard till December 31, by paying a fee of INR 500. The validity of GATE result scorecard 2026 is three years, i.e till 2028. Candidates qualifying GATE exam can also opt for PSU jobs and research programmes.

Candidates who want to raise an objection against the answer key will have to first login using their credentials, then look for the answer they want to object. Select and provide justifications to the question, pay the fees and submit. It must be noted that only GATE provisional answer key can be challenged.

No, GATE questions are not exactly repeated. However, the concept, core, and question format may remain the same. Therefore, candidates must focus on concept-building and practice GATE PYQs as many times as possible. In addition, solve mock test paper to improve accuracy and time management.

Yes, GATE has negative marking for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) only. In GATE question paper, MCQs will be of one and two marks. Hence, the marking scheme for such questions can be checked below -

  • For one mark MCQ - 1/3rd mark will be deducted
  • For two mark MCQ - 2/3rd mark will be deducted

NHCE Bangalore accepts GATE score for admission to M.Tech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants can also get into M.Tech course based on their Karnataka PGCET scores. Selected candidates have to confirm their seat by paying the course fees.

Candidates need to graduate from BTech at IIT Dhanbad with a minimum GPA of 8.0 or above to qualify for M.Tech admissions without GATE. Only the candidates who clear BTech from IIT Dhanbad are allowed admissions without GATE into M.Tech at II Dhanbad with the aforementioned score.

No, the GATE 2026 has already been concluded for IIT Dhanbad M.Tech admissions. The GATE 2026 registrations are closed in the month of October. Candidates who have appeared for GATE will need to wait for all merit-lists to be revealed.

The PhD admissions to the Institute Assistantship courses at IIT Guwahati require candidates to appear for the GATE or CEED. 

However, PhD admissions to the other categories of PhD courses at IIT Guwahati are not decided on the basis of the aforementioned entrance exams scores.
