Physics
As compared to other two subjects i.e. Chemistry and Mathematics, a lot of students felt that Physics was difficult as many questions were time consuming. Experts felt that EM waves and Communications were given more weightage in the exam paper. The overall difficulty in the exam is represented in the graph below:
Take a look at the topic wise distribution of the questions in JEE Main 2016:
Chemistry Part
Majority of questions in Chemistry section were easy. However, there was one question in the exam, which does not belong to JEE Main syllabus and contained insufficient or mismatching data. Otherwise, the distribution of questions among the three areas – Physical, Organic and Inorganic were all equal.
As you can see below, about 47% of the paper was considered ‘Easy’ and only about 10% of it was ‘difficult’ making it a student friendly paper.
The topic wise analysis of the JEE Main 2016 paper for Chemistry is shown below:
Mathematics Part
Many students found the Mathematics section to be easy, but as we work through the paper we found that the questions had many hidden traps, that could have created the confusion for aspirants. The paper had only 33% of questions that were actually easy, and over 50% of the paper was set in the medium difficulty level.
There was only one question each from Statistics and Mathematical Reasoning and two direct questions from trigonometry.
Algebra, Coordinate Geometry and Differential Calculus (as expected) had major shares.
