However, being one of JEE Main toppers is a feeling that is beyond explanations. Guramrit Singh was feeling the same way when he came to know that he scored 100 percentile in JEE Main 2021. Shiksha.com got an exclusive interview of Guramrit Singh today where he shared his success story, his further plans for JEE Advanced 2021 and his message to future JEE Main aspirants.
Q. What is the name of your School? Tell me about your family members?
A. The name of my school is Bhawan Vidyalaya Chandigarh. We are four members in the family - my father, mother, me and my younger brother.

Q. Are satisfied with your JEE Main 2021 result? Would you like to attempt for JEE Main 2021 again?
A. Yes, I am happy with my JEE Main result 2021. I thought of giving it but my teachers are saying to be prepared for JEE Advanced 2021 now. So, I might not appear for any other upcoming sessions.
Q. What was your preparation strategy to get good marks in JEE Main 2021?
A. I referred to the NCERT books and followed the teachers in my coaching institute - Allen Kota. The school and coaching helped me to manage well between board exams and JEE Main 2021 preparations. They provided me with books to study for each of the subject (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics).
Q. How did your parents help in the JEE Main 2021 preparation?
A. My parents supported me during JEE Main 2021 preparation. My parents helped with travelling for my studies. However, they always encouraged me whenever I felt nervous.
Q. Since when you have started preparing for the JEE Main?
A. I have started my preparation for JEE Main from class 10 onwards. My coaching mentors helped me with solving the questions that are of JEE Main level.
Q. How many hours did you spent daily on your studies? How did you keep yourself fit during the study period?
A. The daily study hours were around 6 hours during class 11 and 7 to 8 hours daily in class 12. To keep myself fit I used to play football and cricket.
Q. Who is the role model in your life?
A. My inspiration is my Maternal Uncle who is also a Software Engineer in Intel US.
Q. What will be your preferred branch and institute on qualifying for the JEE Advanced 2021?
A. I am preparing for JEE Advanced 2021. My future plan is to pursue Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.
Q. What message would you like to give to future JEE aspirants?
A. The students should always listen to their teachers. They should take proper advice from teachers for guidance during JEE Main preparations. Aspirants should not spend more time on social media which will affect their studies.

No, JEE Main is not mandatory for UPES Dehradun BTech admission. While the university accepts the scores of the exam, it is not the only accepted exam. Students can also submit scores of UPESEAT/ SAT India/ CUET exams for BTech admission.
