The scores obtained through JEE Main answer key is marks out of 300. However, the result of JEE Mains is announced in percentile and not marks. Candidates can however get an idea of their percentile using JEE Mains marks vs percentile analysis.

Q:   What is the qualifying score in JEE Main?
A: 
There is no minimum qualifying marks in JEE Main. Exam. However, any candidate who wish to appear in JEE Advanced need to obtain the minimum cutoff marks in JEE Main. Candidates gets all India rank in JEE Main on the basis of the score they get in the exam. Admission to the institutes like NITs, IIITs and GFTIs is given on the basis of all India rank of candidates. Candidates who wish to apply for JEE Advanced need to get the minimum JEE Main qualifying cutoff marks only after which they can apply for admission to IITs.

Is JEE Main 2026 April 5 Shift 1 Toughest?

Most students have reported that they found the JEE Main 2026 April 5 Shift 1 exam easier than Session 1. While most Physics questions were lengthy to solve, Mathematics and Chemistry were moderate to easy and NCERT-based. For this shift, 190 to 200 marks are expected to be required for 99 percentile. In the toughest shift for JEE Mains 2026 session 2, students will be able to get 99 percentile at lower scores since the exam difficulty level will affect all students in that particular shift. Similairy for the easiest shift, a student will require more marks to get a higher percentile. This is because the percentile depends on the performance of all students in a particular shift. So this shift is assumed to be easiest till now. Candidates were able to attempt a lot of questions in the test.

DY Patil Navi Mumbai considers JEE Main, MHT CET or SAT scores for admission in BTech course. Hence, JEE Main is not compulsory. Aspirants without any of these scores, can appear for entrance test conducted by DY Patil Navi Mumbai for admission in BTech.
