FIITJEE experts share that there were no changes in the pattern of JEE Main April 2019 Paper -1 exam as compared to previous years or the January Session. Read the detailed analysis on Shiksha.

JEE Main April 2019 Paper I for BE/ BTech began on April 8, 2019. NTA successfully conducted the JEE Main April 2019 Paper 2 on April 7. Around 1 lakh engineering aspirants appeared for the exam across different test centres in India. The paper I of JEE Main April 2019 is also being held on April 9, 10 & 12, 2019.

According to students, there were no changes in the pattern of Paper -1 of JEE Main compared to previous years or January Session. Questions covered almost all chapters from the three subjects Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. The spread of questions was from almost all chapters from class XI & XII.

JEE Main Cut off

The paper had three parts :

  1. Part I:  Physics with 30 questions, marking scheme (+4 for a correct response, -1 for an incorrect response, 0 if not attempted)
  2. Part II: Chemistry with 30 questions, marking scheme (+4 for a correct response, -1 for an incorrect response, 0 if not attempted)
  3. Part III: Mathematics with 30 questions, marking scheme (+4 for a correct response, -1 for an incorrect response, 0 if not attempted)

All questions were of multiple choice with a single correct answer objective type.

On the third day of the exam, here's what students shared:

Students gave a mixed response in Maths. Some students reported questions were easy but needed more time to solve. While few said it was easy.

Physics

Moderate

Students shared that the paper was easier compared to 8th & 9th April papers. According to students, questions were quite descriptive and time-consuming

Chemistry

Easy

Some questions were directly from NCERT and were fact-based. No tricks involved as such in any question.

Overall, the paper was of easy. As far as the difficulty level is concerned, Maths and Physics were of Moderate level while Chemistry remained easy for students even on the third exam. Compared to April 8 & 9,2019, this paper was easier.

The second day of JEE Main April 2019 exam for Paper I (BE/BTech) was held on April 9. Here’s what students had to say about the exam:

Overall, the paper was of Easy to Moderate level as per students. The toughest amongst the three subjects was Physics followed by Mathematics and then Chemistry, according to students. In comparison to 2019, this year’s paper was of easier. More focus was given to NCERT.

JEE Main April 8, 2019: Overall Analysis Based On Reactions From Students

Students reported that the questions were easy. No question asked from Mathematical Induction.

Physics

Tougher compared to Mathematics & Chemistry

 

But it was of moderate level. Some students felt Class XI had more weightage in the paper.

Chemistry

Easy

Some questions were directly from NCERT and were fact-based. No tricks involved as such in any question. One question on assertion reasoning was asked.

Overall, the paper was of Easy to Moderate level, according to students. As compared to last year, this year paper was of easy to moderate level as per students. More focus was however given to NCERT.

As compared to the January session, the paper was almost of a similar level as per students. Physics was relatively tougher.

JEE Main April 2019 Test Centre Guidelines:

  • The reporting time for students was 7:30 am however the exam started at 9:30 am.
  • Students were supposed to carry One Coloured passport size recent photograph, their Aadhaar card/valid Photo ID card & Admit card.
  • Students were not allowed to carry anything else except those mentioned above inside the examination hall. Those having proper medical prescription were allowed water bottles as informed earlier by the NTA.
  • Metal detectors were used at the entry gate and no bags or wristwatches were allowed inside.
  • Students reported that entry started at 7.30 am and they were standing in queues since 7 am in the morning. After the announcement at 9.20 am gates were finally closed at 9.25 am.
  • The exam started sharp at 9.30 am and ended at 12.30 pm.
  • Ball Point pens /Rough sheets were given inside the examination Hall.
  • Time Clock on the computer screen was provided inside the examination hall.

Even though the syllabus of the BCECE Mathematics is same as that of JEE Main, the difficulty level is not the same. JEE Main exam is much tougher than the BCECE exam.

Amity University, Lucknow accepts JEE Main scores for admission to BTech programme. However, it is not compuslory. Aspirants can also get admission in BTech based on AMCAT or any other national or state-level Engineering entrance exam scores.
