The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the SSC CHSL 2025 notification and application form on June 23, 2025, to fill vacancies in Group C posts, including for Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant, and Data Entry Operators. The SSC CHSL notification 2025 contains the latest eligibility conditions for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) 10+2 examination 2025. The SSC CHSL eligibility criteria 2025 include various parameters such as age limit, educational qualification, nationality, reservation norms and others. Here we have provided the detailed SSC CHSL 2025 eligibility conditions so that the candidates can understand the minimum requirements that need to be fulfilled.

The SSC CHSL application form was released along with the notification. The last date to apply online was July 18, 2025. Candidates needed to go through the detailed SSC CHSL eligibility 2025 before applying online for the exam. Candidates need to understand each component of the eligibility criteria because in case they do not confirm any of the criteria, their candidature will be cancelled at any stage of the exam. The Commission prescribes detailed eligibility criteria for the SSC CHSL examination in the form of nationality/citizenship, age limit and educational qualification.

SSC CHSL Eligibility 2025: Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be either of the following:

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A person of Indian origin migrated from either/or Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam to permanently settle in India

Note: All candidates (other than citizens of India) need to produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India when asked by the authorities. As per the official notification, the offer of appointment will be issued to such candidates only after they produce the certificate of eligibility.  

SSC CHSL Age Limit 2025

To fulfil SSC CHSL 2025 eligibility criteria, candidates must be aged between 18 and 27 years as of January 1, 2026. However, the upper age is relaxed for reserved category candidates. The crucial date for age reckoning in SSC CHSL 2025 is January 1, 2026.

Relaxation in SSC CHSL 2025 Age Limit

The Commission provides relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to different reserved categories. The permissible limit in the SSC CHSL age limit 2025 criteria for reserved categories is as mentioned below:

Notes:

  • The date of birth entered by the candidate in the SSC CHSL application form should be the same as mentioned in their Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate
  • Candidates seeking age relaxation must produce the required certificate issued from the competent authority, in the prescribed format at the time of document verification. The candidature of candidates who fail to produce the certificate will be considered under the unreserved (UR) category
  • Ex-servicemen who have already obtained employment in the civil side under the Central Government in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ posts regularly after availing the reservation benefits given to ex-servicemen for their re-employment are not eligible to apply for the exam under the ESM category
  • The period of ‘Call up Service’ of an ex-serviceman in the Armed Forces will also be considered as service rendered in the Armed Forces for age relaxation
  • Candidates who are sons, daughters and dependents of ex-servicemen are not eligible to apply for SSC CHSL under the ESM category

SSC CHSL Educational Qualification 2025

Post-wise educational qualifications that candidates need to obtain as of August 1, 2025, to fulfil SSC CHSL eligibility are:

  • For DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture: Candidates should pass Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognised board or equivalent
  • For LDC/ JSA and DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in Department/ Ministry): Candidates should clear Class 12 or possess an equivalent qualification from a recognised board or university

Note: Candidates who have appeared in their Class 12 or equivalent exam can also apply, however, they must possess the essential qualification on or before August 1, 2025.

There is no reservation for the Person with Disabilities (PwD) for the SSC CHSL posts in the Border Roads Organisation. However, for other posts, the permissible disabilities for the PwD is mentioned below:

Q. What is SSC CHSL salary?

A. The SSC CHSL salary structure is as follows:

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Pay Level 2 (INR 19,900 - 63,200).
  • Data Entry Operator (DEO): Pay Level 4 (INR 25,500 - 81,100) and Level 5(INR 29,200 - 92,300).
  • Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A’: Pay Level 4(INR 25,500 - 81,100).

Q. What is the main age limit for SSC CHSL?

A. The SSC CHSL age limit is 18 to 27 years. Candidates born not before August 2, 1996 and not later than August 1, 2005 are eligible to apply for the exam. However, there is relaxation in upper age limit for different categories in accordance with extant Rules/ guidelines of Government of India.

Q. What is education qualification for SSC CHSL DEO post?

A. The SSC CHSL education qualification for Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Ministry of Culture is that candidates should be Class 12 pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.

Yes, the exam is postponed. The Commission will conduct the SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam in October-November 2025. The exam will start in the fourth week of October.
