Low Score in CUET? Check Passing Marks and Cutoff

Low Score in CUET? Check Passing Marks and Cutoff

Low Score in CUET: CUET 2026 result will likely be released in the first week of July 2026. CUET is very competitive because of the number of students who appear for the exam. The competitive nature of the exam may make the students appearing for the CUET 2026 a bit anxious. Usually, a score less than 600 can be considered a low score in the CUET UG exam based on the previous year’s exam analysis.

Every participating college which accepts CUET UG scores releases its own CUET cutoff for admission to their undergraduate courses. The CUET exam cutoffs can be different for each participating college. Having a low score in CUET can be disheartening, but it is not the end of the road. Some constructive steps can be taken to improve the situation at hand and enhance the chances of securing admission to the preferred college or course.

To know whether an individual has passed the CUET UG 2026 exam or not, they can check the CUET UG cutoff marks released by the participating universities and institutes. The cutoffs are released online and shows the minimum and maximum marks scored by the aspirants in the CUET UG exam.

After the declaration of the CUET result 2026, all the colleges or universities release the course-wise passing marks or CUET cutoff, which is used for shortlisting students for admission to various UG courses. Universities and institutes will also release a CUET counselling schedule and merit list based on the CUET result. Read the article below to know what to do if one has a low score in CUET

Q:   How is CUET UG cut off calculated?
A:

The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:

  • Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
  • The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
  • The difficulty level of the CUET exam
  • Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)

CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:

100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.

Q:   How can I access the CUET UG cut off list?
A:

Students can access the CUET UG cut off list only after the cut offs are released by the CUET UG participating universities. The following steps should be followed to access the CUET cut off list of universities candidate is desirous to take admission in.

  • Visit the official website of the applied and participating institutes
  • On the homepage, click on the link to the current academic session CUET Cut Off
  • A new login page will open on screen. Enter the credentials and submit
  • Now, you can access the CUET UG cut off list when released

The above steps will be applicable only if instittues release the CUET UG cut offs. Otherwise, if the institutes release merit lists carrying their scores, then the minimum score would be considered as the CUET UG cut off. Universities like Delhi University does not released CUET cut off. Candidates will know the college/course allocated on the basis of the preferences filled by the candidate while filling the application form.

Q:   When will NTA release CUET UG cutoff?
A:

National Testing Agency (NTA) does not release the CUET UG cutoff. Once the CUET results are declared, the socres are shared with the participating universities and role of NTA ends with the declaration of results. CUET UG 2025 cutoff has been released by the CUET participtaing universities seperatley. Candidates will be able to check the course wise and category wise cutoff. CUET UG cutoff 2026 has been released by accepting universities after declaration of CUET UG results.

CUET Results 2026: Knowing Low Scores and CUET Passing Marks

To know if the student has passed the CUET exam, they need to check the CUET passing marks released by the participating college or university. According to the CUET exam analysis, a score of 800-1000 marks can be considered a good score in CUET UG. Candidates scoring above 1100 may fall in the category of 98-99 percentile and such aspirants have higher chances of getting admission in courses such as BTech, BA LLB, BCom (Hons), etc, at some of the top colleges and universities in India such as Delhi University (DU), BHU (Banaras Hindu University), JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University), Ambedkar University, etc. Also, a score below 600 can be considered a low score in the CUET 2026 exam. Such a score may grant admission to undergraduate courses such as BA, BA (Hons), BSc and BSc (Hons) courses in private and state universities. However, it is essential to know exactly what is considered a low score depends on the course and college that the student is applying to as each university has its own CUET cutoff criteria.

A score between the range of 600-800 can be regarded as an average score in the CUET 2026 exam. Students with such scores will likely secure admission to good colleges in India. The passing marks for CUET 2026 in the University of Delhi are set by Delhi University itself. Additionally, colleges affiliated with DU have the autonomy to determine their individual cutoff criteria based on the CUET result 2026. The passing marks for DU can vary, but, the cutoff of some of the top colleges such as Hindu College, Lady Shri Ram College, Gargi College, Miranda House, Shri Ram College of Commerce, etc., can go above 700 in CUET 2026.

Students can also opt for alternative colleges and courses that accept lower CUET scores. They can also opt for other UG entrance exams, such as IPMAT, SET, etc., and consider applying to colleges based on merit. Another alternative is to seek admission through management quota.
