CUSAT CAT 2026: Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) will conduct the CUSAT CAT 2026 exam in online mode. The authority will soon release the CUSAT CAT 2026 official notification on the website, admissions.cusat.ac.in. The authority is expected to commence the CUSAT CAT registration in January 2026, while the exam will be held in May 2026.

Candidates must check the CUSAT CAT syllabus and pattern to prepare for the test. The CUSAT CAT exam is conducted annually for admission to B.Tech (UG Programs & PG Programs) in CUSAT, Kochi. The exam has 225 questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics/biology. Each question  3 is of marks with 1/3rd negative marking for an incorrect answer. For complete information, check below.

The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) will release the CUSAT CAT application form in online mode only. The CUSAT CAT application window is expected to open in January 2026. To apply for the exam, candidates have to complate registration, form-filling, document uploading and fee payment. Last year, the CUSAT CAT application fee was Rs 1200 (Rs 600 for Kerala SC/ST). Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before filling the application form.

CUSAT CAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before filling the CUSAT CAT application form. Only eligible candidates can apply for the test online. The course-wise eligibility criteria are mentioned below.

Marine Engineering 

  • Secured 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the Class 12 or equivalent from Kerala Board or any other recognized Board. 
  • Studied in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English in the qualifying examination. 
  • Secured a minimum 50% in the English subject either in Class 10 or in Class 12 (applicable to all the categories). 
  • Candidate should also qualify the CET (Common Entrance Test) conducted by Indian Maritime University (IMU).
  • Candidates have to submit physical fitness and eye fitness certificates as well. The certificate should be obtained from Medical Examiners and approved by DG Shipping. 

 

Naval Architecture & Ship Building 

  • Scored 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the Class 12 examination or equivalent from Kerala Board or any other recognized Board. 
  • Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics should be the compulsory subjects along with the other subjects in the qualifying examination. 
  • Obtained 50% in the Mathematics subject. 
  • Must have scored 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics when taken together. 

Instrumentation & Technology 

  • Obtained 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics when taken together in the qualifying examination. 
  • Obtained 55% in the Mathematics subject. 

Polymer Science & Engineering 

  • Passed Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as an optional subject or any other equivalent examination with 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized Board.  
  • Secured 50% in the Mathematics subject. 

 CUSAT CAT 2026 Age Limit 

The exam authority, CUSAT, does not specify the age limit to take the CUSAT CAT exam. Candidates from any age group can fill out the CUSAT CAT 2026 application form and subsequently participate in the counselling if they qualify for the entrance.

CUSAT CAT 2026 Counselling

Cochin University will conduct the CUSAT CAT counselling for all the qualifed candidates only. Eligible students have to participate in the counselling for B.Tech admission. The CUSAT CAT cutoff is the minimum rank at which candidates are allotted a branch. The CUSAT CAT cutoff is different for each course and college. The authority will announce the cutoff of CUSAT CAT after each round of counselling.
