Commonly asked questions
Q:   Is one month sufficient for JEE Main preparation?
A:
One month is not sufficient for JEE Main preparation if a student has not started preparing or have not studied earlier for the exam. As the syllabus of JEE Main is vast, studying all the topics and remembering them take a lot of effort. However, class 12 student can get a decent score in JEE Main if time after the bard exam is devoted exclusively for the JEE preparation. Since most topics of JEE Main and class 12 are similar, students need to revise all the topics and solve previous year JEE Main question papers. Start solving JEE Main mock test papers at last 3-4 days before the exam to make yourself comfortable with the exam.
Q:   How to prepare for JEE Main from Class 11th and 12th?
A:
Starting the JEE Main preparation from class 11 or 12 is the best time. As JEE Main syllabus consists of topics from class 11 and 12, students can easily cover all the topics along with school. Students can begin by checking the topics that is covered in both school and JEE Main and give special attention to them. For all three subjects, study NCERT and also take help from reference books. Understand the concepts thoroughly and solve numerical problems. To crack JEE Main along with class 12, students should devote at least 2-3 hours for JEE beside class 12 studies. Regularly solve JEE Main mock test and solve previous year question papers to evaluate the performance.
Q:   How to crack JEE Mains in first attempt?
A:

Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. Several students clear JEE Main while in class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.

JEE Main 2026: How to fetch maximum marks in coordinate geometry

Coordinate geometry in JEE Mains is an important section in the mathematics section. It carries a significant weightage. So, first and foremost, understanding fundamental formulas is a must. Besides that, here’s what aspirants can do to fetch maximum marks in JEE Mains coordinate geometry section-

  • As mentioned earlier, start to learn concepts and formulas. Understand the art of mapping points, lines and curves on graph using co-ordinates.
  • Coordinate is a blend of algebra and geometry, so try solving more questions based on tangents, graphs, area, circumference, etc.
  • Make sure to go through JEE Main 2026 chapter-wise weightage to understand in details.

JEE Main Preparation Tips: Advice from Toppers and Experts

Many JEE Mains toppers like Om Prakash Behera and Arnav Singh from JEE Main 2025, and Rishi Shekhar Shukla (JEE Mains 2024) have advised students to stay consistent with their preparation and follow a set of books. Here are some JEE Main preparation tips that aspirants can follow-

  • Try JEE Main mock test daily. Start with one to two daily and gradually increase. Keep a notebook to analyse your mistakes.
  • Prepare a strategic timetable. Divide your daily routine smartly. Morning: best for attempting previous year’s question papers, afternoon: for studying important JEE Main topics, and close the day with revision.

JEE Main Topper 2025, Shaksham Jindal said in an interview with Shiksha - “Don’t overburden yourself with too many books.” Focus NCERT for fundamentals and solve question papers. Pay attention to conceptual problems. Click here to read

  • Try explaining topics to yourself; this is the best hack that does works for a lot of students who prepare for top BTech entrance exams, such as JEE Advanced, BITSAT, and VITEEE
  • Last but not least, give your body a break. Engage yourself in physical and mental activities, like reading, running, listening to podcasts, gardening, playing sports, etc.

Important Coordinate Geometry Topics to Focus

  • Different types of triangles - (Centroid, Orthocentre, Incenter, Circumcentre)
  • Focal chord of parabola
  • Position of two circles - (Intersection common chord, number of common tangents on 2 circles)
  • Length of the lactus rectum (ellipse or hyperbola)
  • Equation of the chord with the given mid-point
  • Find eccentricity (hyperbola or ellipse)

Yes, you can wear a hijab in the JEE Mains exam as it is considered a religious item. However, you will likely undergo enhanced security checks at the exam centre.

You should arrive early to complete this frisking process. Make sure to keep your face visible for identification.

The SUPR section is comparable to JEE Main, but REAP section is considered challenging as it requires creative thinking and "out-of-box" problem solving. It can be compared to the Olympiad level questions.

OJEE and JEE syllabus is somewhat same and different in some places. The OJEE syllabus for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is different from JEE. In JEE, the physics syllabus includes topics such as Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Optics, etc. These topics require knowledge of physics topics.
