Most of us are familiar with the quote "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars". This means you're aiming for something, even if you don't achieve it, you'll still be somewhere better than where you started.
Explore colleges based on JEE Advanced
The same thing goes with competitive exams or real-life scenarios. The competition nowadays for prestigious universities is cut-throat so you have to make sure to bring your A-game to the JEE Advanced exam.
For achieving that level of mastery you need to inculcate the expert level of subject knowledge with a profound understanding of certain topics such as rotational dynamics, RC circuits and Kirchhoff law, nodal plane analysis, nuclear and atomic physics to name a few.
Subjects such as Mathematics and Chemistry require thorough insights on matrices and determinants, probability, the theory of equations, complex numbers. Vectors and third geometry, complete calculus & chemical bonding, chemical kinetics and nuclear chemistry, thermodynamics and thermochemistry to name a few.
The results might not entice many aspirants to apply for lower-level IITs or to comply with the JEE Main scorecard. However, trying it would not bring the guarantee of making it to the topmost IITs.
That is where your scorecard comes along if there are no major tweaking required with the improvement of JEE Advanced marks then further preparation is a great strategy.
While there are many positive aspects of NITs, many NITs held a topmost ranking among IITs, so considering JEE Main scorecard can be a viable and profound option. NITs like Warangal, Trichy, and Rourkela continues to dominate the university rankings with admirable placements scenarios and offering of dual-degrees.
On a positive nuance, there is no shortage of students who have taken drop year for extra preparation and achieved higher rank and a better college. The outcome lies with the mindset that you carry after the results are out. So never underestimate, the potential one whole year can bring.
Counselling with peers, mentors, experts in the academic zone can provide a ton of insights with future aspects of joining any university.

JEE Advanced registration fee for IIT Kanpur BTech varies by category and nationality. Indian female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates need to pay INR 1600, while other Indian candidates pay INR 3200. Fees for OCI/PIO and foreign nationals depend on exam centre location and country category.

JEE (Advanced) exam is the qualifying test for admission to IIT Kanpur BTech. This will be held on Sunday, May 17, and only candidates who clear this exam are eligible for the JoSAA counselling process.

No, candidates can not raise objections in JEE Adv result. The facility to raise objection is provided only in the answer key. It is clearly mentioned in the IIT JEE advanced 2026 information brochure that any request to re-evaluate in result will not be entertained under any circumstances.

No, same questions never get repeated in IIT JEE exam. However, questions with similar concepts can find places in the exam. The question paper of JEE Advanced is prepared considering the syllabus and exam pattern.

You will not be eligible for admission as preparatory ranks are not considered under round 1. Since you have already qualified to appear for JEE (Advanced), all you need to do is meet the second criterion and apply for round 2, which will be only conducted if seats from round 1 remain vacant.

Yes, you can still get admission in Round 2 if you meet eligibility criteria to appear in JEE (Advanced) and have a valid JEE (Mains) rank. Also, you must have scored 60% or above in class 12th. For SC/ST/PwD category students, 55% or above is required.

No, candidates need not pay any fees to participate in JEE Adv counselling. However, once the seat is allotted, candidates will need to pay approximately INR 35,000 (less for reserved category) as a seat acceptance fee and around INR 20,000 as partial admission fees. No, candidates have to carry the printout of their JEE Advanced admit card downloaded from the website to appear in the exam. Soft copies will not be accepted.
