Overview

SSC GD Recruitment 2026: The Staff Selection Commission is expected to release the SSC GD exam date 2026 soon on the official portal at ssc.gov.in. The SSC GD notification was released in the form of PDF on December 1. The SSC GD application process was started on December 1 and the last date to apply was December 31. A total of 25487 vacancies were announced. The notification PDF consists of all the details about the exam including the application process, important dates, syllabus, exam pattern, selection criteria, eligibility, etc. 

The SSC GD selection process includes three stages - Computer-Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/ Physical Standard Test (PST) and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). The final merit list is prepared based on the final SSC GD result and marks secured in all the stages.

SSC GD Recruitment Process

The SSC GD recruitment process contains the stages shared below-

SSC GD Application Form

The Commission starts the online application with the release of the notification. Eligible candidates need to fill out the SSC GD application 2025.

SSC GD admit card

The Staff Selection Commission issues the admit card 2 to 3 days before the candidate's exam date. SSC GD admit card is the essential document to get admission to the exam centre.

SSC GD Computer-Based Exam

SSC GD Constable is a computer-based exam (CBE) of 100 marks. The SSC GD question paper consists of 100 objective questions that candidates need to complete in a duration of 90 minutes.

SSC GD Answer Key

The Commission releases the tentative answer key within one week of the exam date. 

SSC GD Result

The Commission releases the results online. The SSC GD result is displayed as a PDF mentioning the roll number of the qualified candidates.

SSC GD PET/PST

SSC GD Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) are conducted at test centres finalised by CAPFs.

Candidates are shortlisted for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME) of the SSC GD exam based on their performance in PET/PST.

Finally, candidates have to undergo a detailed medical exam (DME) conducted by CAPFs.

Final SSC GD Result

The final SSC GD result is declared by the Staff Selection Commission for candidates who qualify for all three stages of the exam. The candidates selected in the final result are assigned to the opted forces and the states as per their preference and the vacancies.

About Slot Booking Window

The SSC GD CBT 2026 exam date is expected to be released soon and the commission is soon to open the SSC GD Slot Booking Window. With the help of this facility, candidates will be able to choose their preferred date of an examination, shift and city. The slot booking window will remain open for a limited period of time. They need to login the SSC portal by using their credentials including their Registration ID and Password. Slots are also allotted on the first-come, first-served basis. Then after selecting the slot candidates need to confirm the slot to lock it. Then, candidate should download the confirmation page.

Q:   Can a 10th passed student apply for SSC GD exam?

Yes, a Class 10th pass candidate can apply for the SSC GD exam. The SSC GD educational qualification is Matric/ High School/ Class 10th. However, candidates appearing in Class 10th exam are not eligible to apply for SSC GD recruitment.
Q:   What is the age limit for SSC GD?
A: 

Candidates must be of minimum 18 years of age in order to be eligible for SSC GD exam. The upper SSC GD age limit is 23 years. However, the Commission provides a relaxation in the upper age limit for all the reserved categories such as OBC, SC, ST, ExS and others. The SSC GD exam 2026 was postponed. The Staff Selection Commission released a public notice at ssc.gov.in regarding this. Now, the Commission released the new SSC GD 2026 exam dates. It will start from April 27 and will end on May 30.
