Let’s find out in this article which colleges and courses will be available for candidates with 400 to 500 marks in NEET 2026. After the announcement of the NEET results in June 2026, the sentiments to gauge the scores against the ranks will also soar. In this direction, let’s find out the Expected NEET Rank Range.

NEET 2026 rank for 401 to 500 marks

NEET 2026 rank for 401 to 500 marks

After the announcement of the NEET results by NTA on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in, the next big thing will be to check for the NEET scores. If the entrance exam will be of high difficulty level, then a major chunk of aspirants will fall in the range of 400 to 500 marks in NEET 2026. The NEET 2026 scorecard will give a true picture of a candidate's standing to seek admission to MBBS, BDS, or allied courses. Last year, the highest score obtained was 686 out of 720

The NEET cutoff 2026 is a crucial factor that decides the fate of admission to a medical college and course. With NEET 2026 underlined as one of the most difficult exams being held since 2016, it is expected that the cutoff will be low this year. However, with a rank of 400 to 500 marks in the medical entrance exam, getting admission in a government college is somewhat unpredictable. Let’s find out in this article which colleges and courses will be available for the candidates in the expected NEET Rank Range for 401 to 500 marks:

In NEET 2026, will 400 be a decent score?

A score of 500 to 400 is average in the NEET exam, above the qualifying marks. However, candidates may not expect to seek admission in government colleges for the MBBS course. This range of scores can get an aspirant a rank of 95278 to 215071, which is decent to get admission in private colleges for BDS and allied courses. Candidates will also be able to apply to BHMS, BAMS, or BVSc programmes. Given the fact that the highest score obtained in NEET was 686, and the NEET cutoff was reduced, a score of 400 can be considered a decent score.

The predictive rank and scores of the previous year for the NEET exam have been mentioned as follows. Candidates can use the Shiksha NEET rank predictor tool to find out their rank against the scores as well:

Q:   When will the NEET 2026 notification be released?
A:

The NTA is likely to release the NEET UG 2026 notification in February 2026. The notification will be released with the information bulletin containing the exam dates and details. Students need to go through the notification before filling out the NEET UG form 2026.

Q:   Will candidates be provided with face masks at the NEET exam centres?
A:

Till last year, candidates were provided N95 masks at the NEET exam centre which was mandatory to be used by candidates. They had to dispose of their own masks before entering the exam centre at the designated bin. However, since the intensity of Covid has reduced as compared to the last two years, this year candidates may not be provided masks at the centre. The information will be confirmed after the release of the NEET admit card. However, it is recommended that they wear face masks for the entire duration. This should be done to ensure their and other test-takers' safety.

Q:   Will NEET 2026 important dates be scheduled as per last year?
A:

The NTA has not announced the NEET 2026 dates as of now. It is likely that the NTA NEET UG exam will be held as per the previous years' trends. The exam might be held on May 3, 2025, that is, the first sunday of the month. The NEET 2025 session exam was held on May 4, in a similar trend to the last couple of years.

Where can I get admission with a 400 Score in NEET 2026?

With a NEET score of 400 to 500 marks, candidates are likely to get admission to the following avenues in the medical stream:

Private Colleges – The Private medical institutes often have a lower NEET cutoff than government colleges. Candidates scoring 400 marks to 500 marks in the NEET exam will be able to seek admission to good MBBS or BDS programmes offered in private colleges across India.

BDS programmes – Another lucrative option is BDS, where a score of 400-500 marks is required for admission to government medical colleges. If a candidate scores 400+ in the NEET entrance, he/she will be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programmes in government colleges through state quota counselling, especially the reserved category (SC/ST/OBC) candidates.

Other allied health courses - Programmes such as BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homoeopathy), BUMS (Unani), or BVSc & AH (Veterinary Sciences) are in demand in government and private institutions. These courses are generally offered at lower cut-offs than the NEET cutoff for MBBS government colleges. Candidates can pursue these courses as well if not MBBS, as they are in high demand in the job market as well.

Q:   What are the languages in which NEET will be conducted?
A:

NEET will be conducted in 13 languages. Till 2020, NEET was held in 11 languages. NTA increased the number of languages or medium to 13 from 2021 onwards. Malayalam and Punjabi are the latest additions. The list of languages are as follows:

  6. Gujarati
  7. Marathi
  8. Odia
  9. Kannada
  10. Tamil
  11. Malayalam
  12. Punjabi
  13. Telugu.
Q:   Will there be NEET exam in 2026?
A:

There will be NEET exam in 2026. The NEET UG exam is usually conducted on the first subday of May. It is likely that the NEET 2026 exam will be held on May 3. However, the NTA has not announced the dates and schedule as of now.

Q:   What is the timing of the NEET examination?
A:

The duration of NEET exam is three hours. The exam timing is 2 PM to 5 PM. Test takers needed to report to the exam centre latest by 1 PM. They could not leave the exam hall before 5 PM.

Yes, NEET qualification is mandatory for Indian students who want to study MBBS abroad and practice medicine in India later. If you are planning to stay in the Philippines only after your medical degree, you can also study MBBS without NEET qualification.

No, you do not need to clear NEET to get admission in a BSc forensic Science course. While a few colleges might accept it but it is certainly not the primary way to get into forensic Science courses.

No, appearing in the NEET exam is not a mandatory eligibility requirement to appear for the MH BSc Nursing exam. Candidates can appear for this entrance after completing Class 12th to seek admission to government nursing colleges in the state.
