The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the launch of its Parenting Calendar for the 2025-26 academic session, a move designed to enhance collaboration between parents and teachers, support student well-being, and promote a well-rounded educational experience in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The official launch of the CBSE Parenting Calendar will take place on March 28 at 4:00 PM, via CBSE's official YouTube channel. The initiative is expected to set a new standard for parental involvement in the educational journey of students.

CBSE Parenting Calendar: Objective and Outcomes

The primary goal of the CBSE Parenting Calendar is to strengthen partnerships between parents and teachers and facilitate effective communication, with a focus on the overall growth and development of students. The calendar is designed to:

  • Strengthen partnerships between parents and teachers: This initiative aims to encourage open, continuous dialogues to better support students.

  • Create a structured framework for parental engagement: By offering a clear and organized structure, it will guide parents on how to engage meaningfully with schools and educators.

  • Promote holistic student development: By aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the calendar emphasizes the importance of nurturing students beyond academics, focusing on emotional, physical, and social growth.

Schools implementing the CBSE Parenting Calendar are expected to foster stronger relationships among students, parents, and educators, ensuring a more collaborative and holistic educational experience.

Structure and Implementation of the Calendar

The CBSE Parenting Calendar will include a variety of initiatives to structure interactions between parents and schools. These include:

  • Structured orientations for parents to understand their child’s academic and emotional needs.

  • Regular parent-teacher meetings to track progress and discuss student well-being.

  • Programs and workshops aimed at creating better school-parent interactions and offering resources to support students' growth.

Additionally, the calendar will provide guidelines for effective interaction to ensure that parents remain engaged in their child’s educational journey. These interactions are expected to enhance the involvement of families in the learning process, resulting in a supportive and inclusive environment for students.

Invitation to Launch Event

CBSE has extended an invitation to school principals, teachers, counselors, wellness educators, and parents to join the official launch event. The event will offer valuable insights into the objectives of the parenting calendar, as well as strategies for its implementation in schools.

The launch of the parenting calendar represents a crucial step in furthering CBSE’s commitment to improving educational experiences and creating lasting partnerships between parents and schools.

CBSE Parenting Calendar Committee: Development and Contributions

In January 2025, CBSE formed a committee of education experts and school principals to develop the Parenting Calendar. The committee’s mandate was to create a framework that:

  • Facilitates effective parent-teacher interactions.

  • Addresses the diverse needs of students, including adolescents and children with special needs (CWSN).

  • Provides structured communication tools to enhance parental involvement.

The committee, led by Anuradha Joshi, Principal of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, consisted of educators from across the country. Members worked both virtually and offline to create a comprehensive, well-structured framework. Their final recommendations were submitted by March 15, 2025, marking the completion of the development phase of the calendar.

With the implementation of this parenting calendar, CBSE is poised to make a significant impact in fostering more active and informed parent participation, thus contributing to the broader goal of holistic student development.
