NEET UG 2025 Paper Leak

NEET 2025 Paper Leak: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) 2025 was conducted today i.e. May 4, 2025 amid allegations of malpractice. In two different instances, three people were arrested in Rajasthan for trying to deceive a candidate by providing access to the question paper in exchange for INR 40 Lakh.  Furthermore, four members of an interstate gang were caught in Bhubaneswar for allegedly taking bribes for medical college admissions. Reportedly, the accused in Odisha were caught by the Special Crimes Unit earlier today.

The gang, including Priyadarshi Kumar from Jharkhand, Arvind Kumar from Bihar, and Sunil Samantray and Rudra Narayan Behera from Odisha, planned to impersonate candidates to write the exam in exchange for a seat in a medical institution, as reported by Financial Express.

The Odisha Police anticipated that, firstly, local agents would collect information on NEET candidates, including their Aadhaar cards, and assist them in registration.  Once the admit cards had been issued, they were distributed to a group in Bihar.  It is alleged that false candidates, or proxies, utilised these admit cards to sit for the exam in place of the real students.

In the other instance, the Special Operations Group of Rajasthan Police has caught three people from Jaipur, identified as Balwan (27), Mukesh Meena (40), and Hardas (38), for allegedly attempting to scam a NEET candidate for INR 40 Lakh in exchange for the NEET 2025 question paper. Reportedly, the three suspects demanded the money after taking the student and his family to Gurugram, Haryana. The accused refused to show the question paper to the student's family when requested.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET UG 2025 examination on May 4, 2025. Over 22 Lakh candidates appeared for the examination in order to secure admissions in undergraduate medical, dental and AYUSH colleges across India. This year, the question paper did not include alphabets; rather question paper had numerical series, i.e. 45,46, 47 and 48.

Q:   How many Sets are there in the NEET question paper?
A:

There are generally four Sets of NEET question papers, which are further segregated into six parts. However, in NEET 2025, there were four sets of the NEET question paper, which were named as 45, 46, 47, and 48, and these were not further divided into six subsets, which was followed till the previous year. The names of the NEET 2024 question paper Sets and codes are Q, R, S and T. For the NEET 2024 re-exam, the question paper sets were A, B, C and D. The multiple Sets and codes in the NEET question papers ensure that there is no malpractice in the conduct of the exam. The names of the Sets and codes of the regional NEET question papers are different from the English ones. While distributing the question papers of NEET invigilators had to ensure that they did not give the same set of question papers to two consecutive candidates. Once candidates are given the NEET question paper by invigilators, they need to check whether the question paper and test booklet, or answer sheet, is of the same code. In case of a mismatch, they need to bring the matter to the invigilator's notice. In case they submit the NEET test booklet with a different code from that of the NEET question paper, their exam will stand cancelled.

Q:   Do all the Sets of NEET question papers carry the same questions?
A:

Although the questions are the same in all Sets of the NEET question paper, the order of the sections and questions vary from set to set. The different order of the sections and questions ensure that there is no malpractice conducted during the exam. Even if some questions are absolutely different in separate Sets or languages, the topics and chapters covered and difficulty level remain similar to ensure normalisation. Hence, it can be said that NTA Sets a common question paper carrying 200 questions, after which the questions are distributed across four Sets and six subsets of the NEET question paper. The subjects, and the questions within the subjects are shuffled for each of the NEET question paper Sets. This allows a parity in terms of topics covered and difficulty level, as well as allows avoidance of malpractice.

Q:   What type of questions are there in the NEET question papers?
A:

The question types in the NEET question paper is objective and multiple-choice type. Each question carries four answer options. The difficulty level of the questions range from moderate to tough. The questions are asked from the prescribed NEET syllabus. Since NEET is a paper-pencil-based test (PBT), test-takers are given OMR sheet wherein they have to mark the correct answer option through blue or black ballpoint pen provided at the exam centre. While leaving the exam centre, candidates will have to submit the test booklet or the OMR sheet and rough sheet booklet to the invigilator. They will be allowed to carry the NEET question paper with them, outside the exam hall.
