Maths Course admission 2026: Registration, Dates, Exams

Mathematics admission 2025 will be based on both merit and entrance procedures. The eligibility criteria is to pass class 12 in the Science stream with PCM as core subjects with a minimum 50% aggregate from a recognized board. Mathematics admission is generally based on merit scores. 

Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi University, Jadavpur University, VIT Vellore, IISc Bangalore etc. are some of the top Mathematics colleges in India. Some popular Mathematics entrance exams include CUET, CPGET, CUET-PG, AP PGCET, IIT JAM, GATE, UGC NET etc.

 

Mathematics Admission 2025

  1. Conduct personal-level research and know the eligibility for the UG and PG courses in your chosen college.
  2. Look out for whether the admission requires appearing in any entrance; if yes, then choose the exam accordingly.
  3. Register, prepare, and appear for the exams accepted/ conducted by the colleges and wait for the results.
  4. Apply to the universities/ colleges by filling out the application/ registration form.
  5. Check out the official websites for your score.
  6. Attend counseling sessions if shortlisted.
  7. Pay the fees and get your documents verified before you start with your classes.

 

Mathematics Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for Mathematics courses may differ depending on the course level as well as the individual colleges' requirements. However, some basic requirements every candidate has to fulfil are:

Undergraduate/UG Diploma

  • Pass Class 12 in the Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) subjects,
  • With a minimum of 50-60% aggregate score from a recognised board.

Postgraduate/PG Diploma

  • A bachelor's degree in BSc Mathematics or any relevant discipline,
  • With a minimum of 50-60% aggregate score from a recognised university.

Doctorate

  • A master's degree in MSc Mathematics or any relevant discipline,
  • With a minimum of 50-60% aggregate score from a UGC-approved university.
  • There is no age limit prescribed as such. 
  • 5% relaxation is granted for reserved classes such as SC/ST/OBC etc. (may vary).

While admission to mathematics courses are based on a merit scoring system, various colleges also consider some national level entrance exam cutoff scores which the candidates need to clear in order to enrol into their desired universities.

JEE Main

Physics and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Rotational Motion, Properties of Solids and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillation and Waves, etc.

IIT JAM

Structure and Properties of Atoms, Bonding in molecules, Chemical kinetics, thermodynamics, and equilibrium, Physical and chemical properties of compounds, Chemistry of organic compounds, and Instrumental techniques - Spectroscopy.

No, Business Mathematics and Applied Mathematics cannot be considered as a substitute of Mathematics. Both are very different subjects. No candidate is eligible for BSc (except BSc (Hons) Economics) if they have studied any of these two in their previously qualified exam.

No, Mathematics is not a mandatory subject for BDes courses at PP Savani University. Eligibility criteria for this course does not restrict candidates based on their chosen subjects or stream in Class 12th. There is also no restriction based on the aggregate secured by candidates.
